shore excursions in Costa Rica

Looking for ideas for shore excursion in Costa Rica. We have done the zip line tour already.

Hit the ports boards for Costa Rica. There are some great private tours there. We did what would be a combination of 3 HAL tours with Danilo Hall and had a great time.

I've done both tubing and white water rafting (out of Limon) and enjoyed them both. Tubing was a private tour, white water rafting was the ship's tour.

Limon was one of the worst stops ever.

 

The locals never stopped trying to sell something. We couldn't get back on the ship fast enough.

I thought the white water rafting was about the best shore trip I've ever done. Loved it!

We did the animal sanctuary tour and enjoyed it. There was a drunk lady chasing around a butterfly to try and get its picture. :D

We really enjoyed the Rain Forest. Beautiful and educational. After a combined 52 years of military service between DW and I the thrill rides are over.:)

We did the Rain Forest in Costa Rica on our first trip & loved it too..Tried to talk DH into doing it the last trip but he did not want to repeat it..

One time we did the Tortuguero Canal boat ride. Another time we did the Train and Countryside excursion.

We've done the canal also. It was good, not great, but we enjoyed being off the ship. Little wildlife was a actually seen. The "banana plantation" part of that tour proved to be just a quick ride-through, nothing else however.

We went to a coffee plantation, really enjoyed that plus the scenic views along the way.

We loved a stop in Costa Rica.

We took a ship's tour to a location the bus scraped the trees getting into.

From there were three options; Hike through the forest, river kayaks or beach. We chose the beach and found miles of clean beach, and hammocks under the palm trees when we had enough sun. Just the lifting of a hand brought a couple of cold beers when we got hot and didn't want to go back in the water.

Later, there was a great meal with entertainment from local kids. A great day of relaxation and good food; one of the best on any cruise!
