Amenities changed for Nellie's Beach Cabanas Labadee

I got the same response that you guys got. I then thanked the executive for their prompt response and then asked how will they distinguish who ordered the cabana before October 4th. Below is their reply (bolded):

 

You are correct. The Barefoot Beach barbeque buffet will be accessible to all guests who booked a Nellie's Beach Cabana on or before Friday, October 4, 2013. As you booked your cabana before that date, you will be granted access to the upgraded buffet. Per your inquiry, we have identified all the guests who will be granted access to the buffet on Barefoot beach and will notify our shipboard staff on all the pertinent ships

Okay, well, there you go - there's the answer.

Only trying to figure it out like the rest of you folks.

I am definately taking all info I have on this matter with me on our cruise.

I will be one of the first people off the ship to try and get what I want.

I am hoping, those that cruise before me will come back and tell us thier experience on Labadee.

I have a Nellies OTW Cabana booked for our Feb '14 cruise, that I booked in Feb '13, so I guess we'll see if they honor the "if you booked it before October '13...." craziness.

 

Honestly, the upgraded buffet meant/means little to us. I was a bit disappointed that the bottled water disappeared - but that appears to be back as well, so all will be good in our world. :D We have the premium beverage package anyway, so the water would just be an attempt to stay hydrated from all the alcohol! ;)

Thank you as well for the email for Mr. Goldstein. We not only were hit with this change, but also had one of our other excursions cancelled and had to rebook something different. We just sent him an email explaining our concerns and displeasure and I will share what we receive in reply.

I posted this on the other thread too: Went ahead and cancelled our cabana for Nov 5. Not just because of this change, but that was part of it as I don't believe they will honor the buffet as it's too hard to manage. My honda pilot had the alternator go today and I just decided the $225 is better used towards that.

I'll be there on November 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., a short 612 hours from now, not that I'm counting or anything .... :rolleyes:

 

I'm not paying for Internet during the cruise, so don't expect a report until Nov. 10 or after.

This should be really interesting because unless they give out 6 wristbands on board for each qualifying cabana they have no way of knowing others in the party since the cabanas are booked under only one name. I tried connecting other staterooms and the total bill for one cabana came to $1500. So they only have the name of the booking person and have no idea whether there are 2, 4, or 6 people in them. I rather doubt that this is going to work.

I wonder if Celebrity is grandfathering people as well. I'm booked for January and made my reservation months ago. Who do I contact with Celebrity for this? Thanks!

 

I certainly hope so. I can't see why not. :cool:

We are booked on the Celebrity Sihouette with a cabana at Nellie's.

I guess we'll wait patiently (or impatiently) for the first few cruisers back with news....

I hope they do give out the 6 bands. There are only 2 in my cabin but I shared the price with another cabin. I still have not heard back from anyone yet. It was nice to hear that some of you are getting responses back.

I send an email to Shorex and a copy of that to A Goldstein. I have not heard back from Shorex. Today, I received a voice box message from a Executive Guest Specialist, saying she is going to refund for the cabana. I did not ask for a refund. I then went to my emails and I received the same email like the others on this thread that the upgrade has been removed unless you purchased before Oct 4, 2013 with no mention on refunding me for the cabana. I tried reaching this person and left a message with someone else stating I did not to cancel the cabana. I will wait and see what happens.

Received the same response and find the wording interesting to say the least! I would not have cancelled the cabana either way as I enjoy the environment, will have premium liquor package and enjoy having cocktails delivered, kids like the floaty mats! its all good......:p

On or about 1:15Pm Eastern I received a voicemail from a lady at RCI executive office referencing my email to Adam Goldstein about the Nellie’s Beach Cabana I reserved. She basically said she was following up on my request for clarification and confirmation and in so doing will also send an email.

Below is the email I received this afternoon similar to those above.

I just received a second email and shortly after a lady called. She was very nice and pleasant and wanted to make sure I received the emails and thanked me for our loyalty to RCI.

Below is part of the new email.

I am sending this response as I was unable to reach you via telephone earlier as planned. We appreciate your comments regarding the amenities associated with the cabana rentals in Labadee and apologize for your displeasure with the lack of response conveyed.

Please understand the upgraded barbeque buffet, offered on Barefoot Beach, one of Labadee’s beaches exclusively reserved to suite guests, was also made available to cabana guests from other Labadee beaches, and generated unexpected crowding as a result. In order to maintain a premium beach experience, Royal Caribbean will start enforcing the exclusive access of Barefoot Beach to top suite guests only.

Please note that guests who have purchased a private cabana on Nellie’s Beach will still have exclusive use of their cabana for the day. Other cabana amenities include a built-in ceiling fan, luxury resort-style lounge chairs, two floating mats, beach towels, a water cooler with six bottles of water and a personal cabana attendant. Guests in these cabanas are invited to join the beach barbeque buffet at Columbus Cove Café, Dragon’s Café and Café Labadee. Guests who have already purchased private cabanas at Nellie’s Beach prior to October 4, 2013 will still be able to access Barefoot Beach’s upgraded beach barbeque buffet.

We have identified all the guests who will be granted access to the upgraded barbeque buffet on Barefoot beach, will notify all the pertinent ships for each voyage and wristbands will be distributed to the guests onboard.

We truly hope our guests will enjoy a memorable day during their call at Labadee, one of Royal Caribbean’s highest-rated Caribbean destinations and private beach paradise located on the northern coast of Haiti. So now they have swung the other direction and are cancelling, without being asked to do so, for some who have voiced a concern. I voiced my concern long ago in three places and have heard nothing so don't know what that means. Likely not good. icon9.gif:confused:

Received the same email as others have posted here, also assuring me that since I booked and paid before October 4th, we will still get the enhanced buffet. I have printed out that email and will take it with me along with my proof of purchase, which has the date I booked (July) on it.

 

I also had one additional line on our email that I had not seen before:

 

"...Additionally, we have no current plans to lower the price of our cabanas..."

 

That was in response to my mentioning I thought if the amenities were being reduced, that the price should be as well.
