ivalee Posted February 24, 2014 #927 Share Posted February 24, 2014 is it me or when looking at the Aqua Theater cam, does it look like the ship is moving and I see waves? Maybe I just need more coffee..... Looks like that to me. That would be good!

ButterBeanMcGee Posted February 24, 2014 #930 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Good question! I wonder too! Because it's not adrift in the middle of the Gulf with toilets spewing sewage. I would assume it's not real news until something like that happens.

I would assume it's not real news until something like that happens. There are also so many other ships that have engine or other mechanical issues, it is only people like us who care. And as you say she is not adrift with passengers in trouble Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Mystaken Posted February 25, 2014 #935 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Was onboard last week. The plan is to dam off the water around the azipods and suck the water out, then make the repairs. The crew will be staying onboard for extra cleaning and training for something new coming up.

Eng23 Posted February 25, 2014 #937 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Ok. It has to be my computer. I just looked at the link on my phone. Nice to see the Allure is there. I hope we get a picture with a bit better perspective on how it is positioned for the repair work.

renee1222 Posted February 25, 2014 #941 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Does anyone know what the crew of the Allure is doing this week during the drydock? It wouldn't make sense for most of them to return home for just a few days (and very expensive, too!) Is royal putting them up in Fort Lauderdale until she returns? Are they staying somewhere in Freeport for the week? Obviously the navigation crew had to travel to Freeport, but did all 1600 crew travel as well? jahannah Posted February 25, 2014 #942 Share Posted February 25, 2014 My guess is that the vast majority traveled with the ship to the repair dock. There are lots of things the hospitality crew can do during the downtime and they remain under contract to work.
Bobal Posted February 25, 2014 #943 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) I know someone who works in the casino and she's posted how happy she is to have a week's unplanned vacation in Freeport. I doubt whether the crew will be so lucky as I would think RC have lined up cleaning/sorting/maintenance jobs for them. However, I'm sure they'll work a lot less hours than usual and hopefully catch up on some much needed sleep. I would imagine the crew will just stay onboard. I'll be boarding on Sunday and looking forward to a clean ship and a newly refreshed crew :D Edited February 25, 2014 by Bobal
Missus Makkem Posted February 25, 2014 #944 Share Posted February 25, 2014 On the Serenade our waiter told us after their drydock/refit he now knows how to lay carpets.
Big_G Posted February 25, 2014 #945 Share Posted February 25, 2014 We had one bartender tell us that they'll be doing extra work and another said there should be some 'mad' crew parties. Probably both. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

wmp.dll Posted February 25, 2014 #949 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Amazing how they do that. Even in sick bay Allure of the Seas is one fine looking Cruise Ship. Can't wait to get on the fully functioning version in ten weeks.
