Restaurants in The Plaka area of Athens

Would like restaurant suggestions for The Plaka area in Athens. We would like casual, outdoor seating and mid price range.

There are a million cafes in the Plaka. As Paul said, just look around at menus for a few minutes.

Agree with Paul and Bruce. We really enjoy strolling around the Plaka, and while we are browsing the various shops we are also looking at restaurants, cafes, and posted menus. In Greece, like much of Europe, the best meals are often the specials of the day (plat du jour) which are normally posted on a chalk board or on a posted menu. Our choice of restaurants often changes based on the specials. We also tend to avoid restaurants that are empty....which is an old superstition of ours.

We enjoyed lunch at the Hermion in July. Outdoor seating (shaded), delicious Greek Salad and nice atmosphere. Shops galore right outside. Free wifi. Our tour director recommended it, along with others nearby, and it was crowded.

We also ate at the Hermion and it was good. There were four in our party. Three had Greek salads and the fourth had some kind of lamb.

We were in Athens last September and, based on reviews in Trip Advisor, had lunch at Strofi. It's at Rovertou Galli 25 very close to the Acropolis Museum but quiet and very relaxing. They have an awning covered upper deck with a fabulous view of the Acropolis. We shared several appetizers - calamari, Greek salad, and spanakopita - more than enough and they were delicious! We made reservations through their web site - http://www.strofi.gr/en but didn't seem to be necessary at lunch time. We enjoyed the food so much we returned a week later after a tour to Delphi before we boarded our Grand Circle ship.
