"Live" From the Enchantment of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am reporting "Live" from the Enchantment of the Seas....This is a T/A preview cruise for the Newly refurbished EOS. I did't even know they were having this preview, until my DM called me last Wednesday and Invited me....

We are in the Port of Philadelphia, and we will only be 1 night at sea.....The EOS sails to Canada tomorrow with the first paying passengers from Philadelphia.

When I return home, I will be sure to post many photos of this ship. It is very beautiful, and the new areas are truly spectacular. They are still painting, laying carpets, and such. I was able to view each Catagory of stateroom today, and have already taken many, many pics...

I wish there was Cybercabin available on board...I would be able to post on line with Cruise Critic.

I am not sure where we will be going....It can't be far because we debark tomorrow at 8am..

I will report later if possible. There is no charge for Internet today and the internet cafe is filled.....

The Port of Philadelphia is very nice and there was no line to board the ship...The gangway was very long though....about 300 feet.

The parking lot is only about 3 blocks from the terminal...and there is a shuttle busts that will bring you to the terminal if you like...

Chops will not be open today, but the Windjammer, Ben and Jerry's, Lattitudes, and all of the Bars are open.

I'll be back soon.......

Radio, you are the greatest! We can count on you to report "on the spot"!

Is the ship full? If so, that would reflect well on Philadelphia's cruise port ability to get you all on board without complaint. :)

I'm a little surprised to hear about so much construction still going on, since Enchantment already cruised, what, four times, out of Bayonne?

radio,

I'm one of those first paying customers out of Philly tomorrow! Morning can't come soon enough. It's great to want to get up on the first day of vacation! I hope all the small problems I have been reading about are fixed.

How long does it take to get to sea from the port?

Anything else you can tell us would be great.

Thanks for the info.

We are sailing Sunday - thanks so much for the update. Please tell us that the problem with the toilets not being able to empty has been corrected. This was a post I read on Cruise Critic earlier. We sailed on Enchantment when she was brand new - loved the dining room decor and the look of the entire ship. Can't wait to see the improvements. I hope you have no trouble quickly posting pics for us when you get back. Thanks for your help - smooth sailing!

We are from Reading PA also - but not sailing till Sunday. We will be getting on as you are disembarking. Hope you have a great trip. Just a tip - if you are driving yourself I was told not to use Blue Route - due to loads of construction. Stay on Schuylkill Expressing - entire route - till Broad St. exit. Hope you enjoy the Enchantment - smooth sailing.

Hello Everyone.....The ship is very nice. Dinner was great (Lobster & Shrimp)...I am going to the Production show at 9:30.

The only dinner seating was at 7PM......I dont think the ship is even half filled. Even with only 1 dinner seating...the Dining room was only half full.

I am in cabin 7556. It seems very nice, but has not been remodeled...There are no new linens, drapes, or furniture. I am very happy it is a balcony though...

We are about 20 miles south of Wilmington...and I dont know if we will make it into the Atlantic or not...they said that the Casino will be open between 11pm until 1am.

MerionMom...They are laying carpets, and putting down teak all around the pool...

Treacher1....I have not had any problems...There has been no odor of any kind. The toilets are working well.

When I get off off the ship Tomorrow, I have to go right to work....so I may not be able to post pics until Wednesday...but I will try...

The Windjammer Marketplace is very nice..They have added many table to the area, and have enclosed additional space.

The Jump Zone was up and running today between 6-7. It looked like lots of fun !

I will try to check in again later...Many Pics to come

My family has booked 8 cabins to sail Thanksgiving week. Haven't seen anything updated by RCCL, so the message boards are wonderful.

We were wondering--which rooms are actually in the new section of the ship? Can you tell by room number?

The best way to figure out where the new cabins are, is to look at the deck plan for deck 8.

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/finda...ailDate=1050707.

There are 16 purple D1's and 6 inside K's in the new section. From there, you can work your way down deck by deck and figure out where the new cabins are.

We attended a very nice presentation about RCI , last night. The President of RCI and the VP of Sales were on hand with others, to discuss business in general. There were no new features discussed of Freedom of the Seas...But they had an interesting film about the May 5, kickoff with Richard Fain in Noew York regarding FOS.

The new Concierge club is located on Deck 8...across from Royal Caribbean On Line.

The price for the Cafe is .50 per minute.. Package prices are $25=60min...$35.=90 min...$50.00=150 min.

The WiFi is up and running...The wifi card is $10./day $50./Voyage.

WiFi locations are in the VikingCrown Lounge,Centrum, Solarium, Library,Spotlight Lounge,Schooner Bar.

The Future Cruise Consultant area is just below the Internet Cafe on deck 7.

We're approaching the Passenger terminal..We should be there by 7am.

I will post pics as soon as possible......

Coming Next...."LIVE" from the Grandeur of the Seas July 22, 2005

for a 9 night Caribbean.

Thanks for tuning in.....

Thank you Radio! Did they say anything about the recent horror stories with the toilets that we have been reading about here? Did you have any problems with flushes or backups? Some EOS cruisers really suffered with this one during their cruise earlier. I am new so thank you very much for your reports I really look foward to your pics!

Radio posted yesterday that he experienced no problems with the toilets, so I guess that problem has been resolved. :) That sort of problem is not uncommon on ships but is usually a short-term one that is quickly resolved.

We were on the july 11 cruise on Enchantment, staying on Deck 7. On that deck, the new section ran from room 7068 to 7082. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for telling us about the cruise. We will be on Enchantment Oct 10. I can't wait. The ship looks very interesting with the new elevated board walks and I'm so psyched to try the bungee jumping trampolines. (May change my mind once I see what they actually involve!)

Anyone else who sails this ship, please tell us more and include photos.

OMG, those pics are unbelievable. In fact, they are so good that I have already given up the hope of even remotely being able to capture the pool deck on my puny camera. I'm not going to even try.

Radio, I was disappointed to hear that YOUR cabin had not been updated as I understood ALL the cabins would be updated with new carpet and linens, etc.

I am sailing on the Enchantment in Sept and our cabin is right next to where you were but not in the new section. Does that mean we probably will have the old stuff too?:(

Radio, thank you so much! The pictures are fabulous! We are staying in an Owners Suite on the Oct 2 sailing and you pictures of the suite have my mouth watering! The only time I've seen any pictures are the ones on the RCCL website and your pictures are soooo much better! Thanks for getting me ready to experience the ship!

Hello

I was also on this 1 night cruise and also had a wonderful time, and would fully agree, the ship is gorgeous. Things others might find helpful:

1) we went in the night before and stayed at the Sheraton Society Hill. We were really pleased with this hotel, which is in the Olde Town section of Philly. We were able to walk to the Liberty Bell and there is a lot of boutique shopping around (although everything was closed since it was Sunday night).

2) We ate at a restaurant across the street from the Sheraton Society Hill called Sfizzios (I think). It was pouring rain and we wanted somewhere where we could dress casually. Food was Italian with seafood as well. Was delicious, but kind of pricey. The famous 'Bookbinders' restaurant is right out the back of the hotel, but since we didn't feel like dressing up we didn't go there.

3) Taxi from airport to the Sheraton Society Hill was $25 pre tip. They also had shuttles available at ground transportation for $8/person. The taxi from the hotel to the pier was a very short ride and was $14.60 before taxes.

4) The Philly cruise terminal is -- interesting -- in a very old building. Nothing really 'wrong' with it, just different than the slick RCCL terminals I have been in previously.

5) The ship looks simply gorgeous. I was especially impressed with how beautiful the Orpheus theater was. It has been done in a deep green and gold theme and I think it is the most beautiful of all of the RCCL ships I have been on.

6) It was opressively hot and since the pools were closed and being worked on, and the ship was really not too full (I guess 1/4 full at most?) the pool decks were pretty empty all day. The solarium pool was open but seemed to be 2 feet short of being full, but people were in it anyway.

7) We didn't see anyone bungee but I have included photos in my photos link below. HINT: you must have SOCKS to bungee. They require this because the bungee surface gets very hot in the sun. We had a hard time locating the bungees but they are on 9 behind the Viking Crown - right on the edge of the ship! It did look fun, though!

8) On a side note, this was the first time we had flown Southwest, and found their 'A, B, C' methodology of loading passengers interesting. People started lining hour 45 minutes to a hour before the plane even arrived. My husband I really didn't care if we sat together or not, so we had no inclination to join the lines!

9) The water all around the Philly Cruise port seemed really dirty, lots of giant logs, and debris. My husband surmised that this was because of the heavy rain.

10) Not that it matters, but while in port at Philly, planes fly over constantly at very low altitudes above the ship because the airport is so close.

I have posted about 80 photos that we took during this 1 day preview cruise. You can view them here! There are also a couple of pics of our room at the Sheraton Society Hill.

http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=1cr2y6.aclwyxkb&x=0&y=-f7tgff

ps. I think I got the location of the bungees wrong, I don't think it is behind Viking Crown, but on the opposite end of the outdoor deck. It's up there somewhere!
