I loved watching the reruns onboard the Ruby this week, but I was surprised at how sexual the show was! Most of that went over my head when I was a kid! Those people were getting lucky left and right lol!

Thus the name of the show!

We also enjoy seeing the reruns onboard. Wish they'd show more than one episode a day. Have also enjoyed them on MUTS! :D

I love watching the old re-runs myself. And you are right about things going over my head watching it as a kid as well.

Yes they should have a Love Boat Rerun channel showing lots or all episodes continuously.

On a sad note, the original Pacific Princess was just scrapped a few months ago in Turkey. Here is a web site link that someone posted elsewhere with many pictures on the Pacific Princess when she was still looking for a buyer in June 2012.

The Love Boat was similar to the earlier Love American Style but on a ship. With so many old programs on DVD it's surprising that only the first 2 seasons of Love Boat are available.

Gavin's video interview said that many of those old celebrities had not worked in many, many years.

I have had a number of cruise romances with passengers and crew (Holland America, Princess and Celebrity). A girl I met and traveled with on NCL ended up having a shipboard romance with an executive from the cruise line. My friend dated the ship Captain on Holland America and returned for several cruises. My sister had a romance with a ship Captain on Oceania. My friends did a cruise and coupled up with guys on board. Cruising is very romantic!

I thought that cruise lines frowned on that sort of thing.;)

OP, we must be about the same age. Completely went over my head too. I love to watch those old reruns while on a cruise and now my young-adult sons are hooked on them too. They have a million questions:

"Where's the security scanners?"

"Is that the only pool on the ship?"

"Why do their cabins look so big?"

"Was there only 1 bartender on the whole ship?"

"Why did they dance in the dining room?" :D

And I'll add to that:

"Do women in short still have to wear pantyhose while onboard?"

We were just sitting here watching some old episodes ourselves. You can watch the first six seasons on Youtube:

It is amazing how many stars were on that series. Saturday nights on TV back then was watching The Love Boat & then Fantasy Island.

One of the first things I noticed at the very beginning of each episode is the passengers getting on the ship. The gang way actually goes down from the dock to get on, compared the zig-zag up several ramps to get get on now.

Of course, much of what we saw when we were young was produced in such a way as to be entertaining to both children and adults. Take a look at the old cartoons (Bugs Bunny, et al) that were designed to play before the feature. There's a lot there that kids just don't get.

I would love to find a "Love Boat" channel on the ship. Of course, I'd have to turn on the TV, first, and we didn't do that on our most recent cruise.

Lol, I always loved the guest stars on the Love Boat. You never knew who was going to show up.

The words cuchi-cuchi just came to my mind. Remember Charo?

So funny you mention this! I was thinking the same thing. Issac and Gopher saw more action than most!:D We watched whenever we were in the cabin - just great! :)

Believe it or not, Charo is the featured act at one of the casinos out here. The picture of her looks just the same. She was either 16 during the Love Boat or she is a great looking science project.:eek::D

Loved "The Love Boat" back in the seventies and still do now. I'm a bit of a sap for nostalgia. I have some of the seasons on dvd and my cell phone is set to The Love Boat theme when my dh calls me. We always enjoy seeing the reruns in our cabin.
