Spring Break in Texas: Review of Navigator of the Seas March 9, 2014

Recommended Posts

Not liking the negative feedback and hoping it is better, my daughter(12) and I will be cruising June29th on the NOS, I am new to this forum and it is awesome being able to hear all the feedback!! My daughter loves playing bingo and it gets costly lol I am looking forward to going, we are going on the same route deck 9 in a balcony. The cruise is super expensive now, I got mine for free from the casino, anyone else going on the cruise the 29th?

I bet campus is quiet!!

Sadly, we are on the wrong side to watch the runners :( the smoking area is on that side, so maybe I'll go up with DH around that time and watch the drunks stumble on :)

Hey!

Sure...I believe they always having them sitting out in the concierge or diamond lounges. I'll also snap pics of the MDr menus since I think those get delivered to our room.

I was planning on using my free restaurant voucher for Chops; however, I have never been to Giovanni's and might try that too. I doubt I'll try Sabor...I prefer my Mexican from hole in the wall restaurants.

We (8 of us) were on Navigator on the 2-23 sailing......horrible embarking situation (fog delay).

We loved Giovannis, food & waiter were awesome! All agreed we would go back there again. We also did Sabor but would not go back. There wasn't anything bad about it but it was not impressive either. And we get awesome Mexican food here in AZ. We did however have great Mexican food in Cozumel on the side of the road while doing our jeep tour!

To the OP. In the dining room, if you want something that is not on the menu, ask for it. They want to please you.

We experienced this at our table & they bent over backwards to bring what was asked for & did a great job of meeting those requests!

Sounds like, since dry dock, they got some new folks and are not up to speed overall. I do know, at least on Carnival, they will lie to you outright, so the deal about him being on vacation may or not have been true. Also sounds like things in rest of the deparments are OK, just those having to deal with the rooms. Hopefully it's back up to speed before we go in July.

Finally went up to the diamond lounge. Better view and comfier seats. Also visited the concierge lounge again and we're not the only ones complaining.

Port side rooms are having problems with urine smell as are rooms on our side. More complaints pertaining to our attendant too (apparently he is up to 8 or 9 now, according to the head supervisor).

Listening to other guests and they are disappointed with the ship. Saying things I was thinking, but didn't say: thin mattresses, horrible lumpy pillows, thin comforter on the bed, construction sounds all day long (apparently they were sawing pipes in the ceiling). Cushions on the balcony furniture are very dirty.

Again, these were all things I had been thinking....and weren't enough for me to really complain about...but are things I heard other cruisers in the lounge talking about.

Again, none of these things are "ruining" our cruise (as other posters so melodramatically post here on cc). We're having a great time with our family, but they are not meeting our expectations. I can see where long time cruisers are coming from when they say they miss the good 'ole days. I have only been cruising for 4.5 years and see it.

I remember becciboo posting about service problems post-dry dock.

Another story....family are in the dining room two nights ago and took 2 hours. Had to continually flag down the assistant waiter and waiter to refill drinks and order.

You should go tonight turn it in...tomorrow they will have a new form.

For an open booking, instead of getting $100 obc on a 7 night cruise, with the new form, you will get $25 instead...if you have one of those forms that still says $100...put it in the LA's hand tonight if possible...here's a link so you can see:

No more free movie channels on the tv.

First, I am loving this live review. You gotta love technology!

We too were disappointed the free movies were gone. Always loved at least spending one afternoon spending some time in the cabin watching a movie. We were in a Grand Suite and found out we were able to watch 2 pay per view movies each day free of charge. Another suite perk. They remove the charges on the last day of the cruise. Ask the concierge if this is available on NOS.

Can't see any pictures of your OS yet, and looking forward to these. Once you move up to the 'suite life' it is hard to go back.

Thanks for your time posting.

Whiz - thank you! I wonder if so long as it is turned in on the old for. , if it will be ok. Or they'll honor everything on cruises up until Sunday? $25 instead of $100? Wow....another cutback. I mean, every bit helps....but that is a steep change.

Checked with the concierge and he said no about the movies. Then called right back and said "just for you" and that he would cancel the charges tomorrow :)

I wonder if that was an old perk?

We have a play station in the room, but no games or controllers.

Just ordered dinner to the room and requested a table cloth this time :)

Love CC and the "live" tips!

While in the RFS on Enchantment we also had a play station and had to get video games from Concierge, check with them to see what they have if needed

And they had no problem bringing a table cloth even though we used the coffee table for dinner

Thank you for your live review!

The pay-per-view suite perk was in January of Radiance of the Seas. So very recent, although some perks are on a ship by ship basis. Enjoy your movie! It never hurts to ask.

The old perk used to be a library of DVDs that you could borrow. But I guess keeping that up to date is very expensive. Besides, no more DVD player in our suite. I guess everything is going digital.

Ps. We also hade the Playstation as well and no games.

I always also bring a deck of cards when I cruise. I love having an option for entertainment that does not require a power cord or batteries. :)

We grabbed a deck of cards from the library...and scrabble from the concierge :)

The ship is really rocking tonight....must be full speed!

Dinner was ok. The guys liked the crab salad, but not the lobster (it was rubbery). Tortellini was alright. Really enjoy being able to dine in the room :)

The guys are watching some silly Stallone movie...I'm vegging.

Just a note that our attendant has not been here tonight for turndown service (almost 8 PM). He started around 5 PM because we saw him in the hallway. Oh well, guess the "we'll make sure you are first" promise from Ruben wasn't really true.

Having just read another post on another thread this link is if you want an open booking, and I agree it looks worse than before.

However if you know the cruise you want to book then the new system looks way better especially if you stay in suites.

Op if you haven't already done so I suggest reading the other thread so you can compare which works best for you, but if you know which cruise you want I would hold off until tomorrow.

Just my honest opinion.

Everything turned in today and as long as it was the old form will hopefully get the 100 obc for a seven nighter.

Thanks...unfortunately, I don't have any plans for a future cruise right now. Christmas won't be with Royal since we want to visit Europe. So possibly spring break, but we're on the fence....and Maybe summer 2015 in Europe but we haven't thought that far.
