Spring Break in Texas: Review of Navigator of the Seas March 9, 2014

Recommended Posts

Having just read another post on another thread this link is if you want an open booking, and I agree it looks worse than before.

However if you know the cruise you want to book then the new system looks way better especially if you stay in suites.

Op if you haven't already done so I suggest reading the other thread so you can compare which works best for you, but if you know which cruise you want I would hold off until tomorrow.

Just my honest opinion.

Yes if you know what you want to book you are as well off with the new system starting tomorrow. If you don't, turning in the old form today for open booking at least gives you a shot at higher obc.

Thanks...unfortunately, I don't have any plans for a future cruise right now. Christmas won't be with Royal since we want to visit Europe. So possibly spring break, but we're on the fence....and Maybe summer 2015 in Europe but we haven't thought that far.

Glad you got what works for you.

On a separate note as I know there are lots of upcoming navigator cruisers reading this thread so I am just throwing this out on this thread if you don't mind. We have upcoming cruise on navigator western schedule. Had an email from RC today about excursions. Mention my sail date and offered me excursions for Nassau st Maarten and labadee and we are going to none of those places:confused: anyone else had these emails or is there something I don't know?

Again apologies for interrupting the thread.

Also thanks for the info on towels

I noticed you posted it on the other thread.

Dropped it off....LA had no clue (Reba wasn't up there tonight, nor did she mention anything this afternoon). Said it would be credited today and dropped it in the box. For some reason I am anticipating a screw up.

Went to WJ bar for a sprite zero. They ran out, but had diet dr. Pepper. Miracle of miracles lol he gave it to me, even though the bartender on day 1 said no dr. Pepper on the soda package.

Walking down just now our stateroom attendant sees me and asks if we are going to dinner. I pointed to the pile of room service stuff we put outside and said no. He asked if we needed anything....I didn't even bother. Just asked for a compass.

No worries about the towels.....been seeing ppl walking around with stacks of them. Heard someone say they ran out last night.

Am I missing anything else I was supposed to check on?

Met some guy tonight in the d lounge who has 100 cruises. Started in 2002. Cruises single and usually in inside rooms. Cruises once a month. Seemed like a nice guy. Claims cruising is cheaper than being at home.

I'm really enjoying reading your review. Could I ask you a question? I know you're in an Owner's Suite so I was wondering if there was a CD player for music in the room? Someone told me it was in the cabinet under the TV. My husband wants to bring some of his favorite music CD's if there is. Thanks. :)

I would be very upset about the cabin attendant. We have done suites on most of our cruises and have never had service like you have had. Do suites still have to pay increased tips for the cabin attendant? I sure wouldn't be happy paying more for even less than what would expect in a regular cabin. You are in an Owner's Suite for heavens sake.

Yes GS and above is higher tips.

I have had a couple of poor attendants since the prepaid gratuities came into effect. My parents also noticed a drop in standard in cabin attendants this year on their recent cruise. (By the way not trying to reopen the prepaid gratuity argument etc but if having tips paid on a daily basis I think the op is well within her rights to have her tips altered regarding the stateroom attendant)

$14.25 suites GS above as opposed to $12 JS and lower pppd

Not on NoS, but had an email as well with options for Ocho Rios.. doing Bermuda, San Juan, St. Maarten and Labadee... Unless we added a surprise 5th stop, I just figured it was RCI's crackerjack IT team! :D

Dinner last night was the lobster night.

No, we bowed out of the casino. Was losing too quickly and I have final payment on a Baltics cruise coming up soon.

The single guy....I would estimate 70s. My thinking was that he must have made some good investments (or an inheritance) to be cruising so much....he said he was only a social worker, and I know they don't make a ton of money.

Tips for attendant - we had free grats from our TA, so it's not really affecting our wallet. If we downgraded his tips, I don't even know what would happen to the money. I wouldn't want it going back to the TA, since I'm not a fan of them anymore.

I slept like a baby last night....a solid 10 hours!! We were instructed to move our clocks forward an hour, so we're back on central time.

I haven't managed to sleep as much as I wanted to....I guess my body is getting used to less sleep (we got a puppy a while back and he likes to wake up at 5:30 am). I'm getting old!

I did get some work done, but never as much as I want. I'll try to squeeze in a bit more today. I did get some reading done though (pleasure and work), which was nice.

Did you post the compasses? I thought I read they were on here but I can't find them. It may be because I'm on a mobile app and just don't know how to navigate it. :confused:Enjoying your review. Oh and both my parents went to TCU. :) Thanks!!

I am not one to complain about petty stuff and as long as I have ice in the bucket to cool down my wine and the room is taken care of on a regular basis and is clean, I don't expect much more. Your attendant is way subpar in performance and effort. I really lay the blame on the director's feet as it 's obvious he's not supervising his staff. Since your tips are covered, not much you can do there. For the sake of others to follow you, sounds like a letter to Goldstein is in order especially as much as you guys travel with them. RCL needs to get a handle on this quickly and as I said before, sounds like this has to do with both room service and the attendants. May need to go higher than that supervisor to an officer who's area of responsibility is both. Thanks for your ongoing comments as it gives a good feel for how things go and work onboard.

Thanks nascar. We're the same....so long as the room is being cleaned in the morning and turndown at night, we are happy. We don't ask for a lot: don't tuck in the bottom of the bed. That's it. We don't even ask for ice or anything. Unlike our neighbor who we heard saying "I want x, y, z and some of this and that. If you do all that I'll be happy." lol

I haven't posted compasses....the internet is really slow onboard, so I think it'll have to wait until I get home :( I did walk the entire ship yesterday and took pics.

Not liking the negative feedback and hoping it is better, my daughter(12) and I will be cruising June29th on the NOS, I am new to this forum and it is awesome being able to hear all the feedback!! My daughter loves playing bingo and it gets costly lol I am looking forward to going, we are going on the same route deck 9 in a balcony. The cruise is super expensive now, I got mine for free from the casino, anyone else going on the cruise the 29th?

I'll be on the June 29th cruise with five other family members. We're in junior suites at the very aft, so we can see where we've been ;)

I wish I could get my family to go!! I like trying to meet new people instead of wandering around by myself lol My daughter ditches me for the kid stuff all the time. I try to keep out of the casino the whole time lol

Thanks again for everything, seaofwonder. I've really looked forward to your posts this week, and you've been very patient about answering questions. I can't wait to see your pictures!

It's my pleasure :)

My cousin is treating her 17 year old daughter to a HS graduation cruise. Her friend is joining them, and now my son and daughter have decided they want to go, too. We are 17, 32, 35, 41, 44 and 64 - a very young 64 ;)
