Holland America Secrets ??

We just booked the Westerdam for Alaska this summer. It's been a few years since we have sailed on Holland America. Can anyone here fill us in on some special "MUST DO's" or certain things we should know??

 

This is what I do remember:

 

1) Past Holland America Guests (Mariner Members) get a special embarkation lunch in the MDR.

 

2) They have a great tea ceremony during the cruise that has some really AWESOME Indonesian desserts.

 

3) The THERMAL SUITE is excellent.

 

What else can you tell me?? :confused: Thanks in advance.

On our last sailing on the Westerdam they had a wonderful chocolate bar. The hot chocolate with red pepper was wonderful. The only regret was that we didn't bring any of the mix home with us.

Love the chilled soups in the MDR and bread pudding in the Lido.

On our last sailing on the Westerdam they had a wonderful chocolate bar. The hot chocolate with red pepper was wonderful. The only regret was that we didn't bring any of the mix home with us.

 

Where was the chocolate bar. In the Explorations Cafe? I was just on the Westerdam and did not see this

It was not at the Explorations cafe. Honestly can't remember which deck it was on but it was hidden. We stumbled on it during a walk around the ship. I hope it is still there as it was really good.

It is not far from the shops, just keep walking forward and you can't miss it. I agree the chocolate is wonderful!

We found the Chocolate Seduction Bar to be a BIG disappointment.

 

They can't even make Chocolate Martini's there.

Could be, she's like a bloodhound where it comes to chocolate, though. We never really spent much time in the shops. We'll have to look more closely on our next cruise.

Spent so much hours in the shops and always passed by the chocolate thingy but it was always closed! I guess the only time I could have experienced the chocolate, I was doing something else on the ship than shopping!

Yes. Not on other ships. Only Westerdam and it's amazing.
