Penthouse Suite Perks

O.K. guys & gals, after reading on CC & NCL, I can not find a 100% answer about what perks the penthouse comes with. I know there are butlers etc., but do you get the 3 bottles of alcohol or is that only with higher suites? Do different ships have different amenities for the Penthouse Suites or they all the same. I am NOT looking for an owners suite or family suite info. just on the penthouse suites, or how far up do I need to jump for the 3 bottles of alcohol? According to NCL's amenities chart, they way I interpreted it was that the 3 bottles of alcohol came with the Penthouse suites. I usually book an inside because I'm never in the cabin other than to sleep mostly. I was looking for a few years down the road for a celebration that will be coming up & am just curious!!!!!!!! Thank You All

Three bottles of alcohol are included only in Owner's Suites and Deluxe Owner's Suites, six bottles are included in the Garden Villa (not to be confused with the Family Villa) - these three suite types also come with unlimited soda, water, and mixers in the suite. The biggest difference in suites would be Haven access. For example, on some ships, there is a Haven accessible by ALL suites, and on others the Haven is only accessible by SOME suites, and on even others there is no Haven at all. Easiest way to figure this one out is by looking at the Suite designator - all suites beginning with "H" (H1,H2, etc) have Haven access, suites beginning with "S" do not have Haven access. Some ships provide slightly different amenities for different level suites - for example on some ships only Haven suites or high level suites will have access to reserved seating in the theater, on other ships it's available to all suites - this sometimes varies by concierge and sometimes even by sailing. Sometimes the are other slight differences (again varies by concierge) - perhaps only higher level suites will be invited for a bridge tour or early entry to the Chocolate Buffet. The suites themselves, of course, vary in size and layout, with higher level suites often having separate living rooms and bedrooms.

Was just in a penthouse in November and will be again in 3 days.

No alcohol, that is for higher end suites, except I thought I got a bottle of sparkling wine.

The difference would be if they are Haven suites or not. On the Jewell, there was a Haven but my penthouse was not included in that. Some ships, I believe, have penthouse suites in the Haven area and they would then get those amenities, which includes private pool, courtyard area, etc.

For the penthouse, you get the butler, breakfast and lunch in Cagney's, priority embarkation, priority disembarkation, priority tendering, a concierge who can make dinner reservations, book NCL excursions, etc., daily treats and I'm sure I'm missing some stuff.

On every ship but the Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, and upcoming constructions:

The PH amenities include a butler, concierge, breakfast and lunch at Cagney's (or the equivalent), a bottle of sparkling wine, and various other things listed on the website (Lavazza machines, special bathroom products, etc.).

On the Epic, Breakaway, Getaway and (presumably) future constructions:

The PH amenities include access to the private Haven area (including the restaurant) as well as the other items listed above (except for Cagney's as that is replaced by the restaurant in the Haven area).

Here is a very detailed chart of what is included with each level of suite:

http://cruise.expedia.com/pictures/microsite/1274/pdf/NCL%20Suites%20and%20Villas.pdf

It's a little out of date as it's from 2009 and mentions some amenities as being available on Epic only that also would be available on Breakaway and Getaway (those ships were built after the document was published).

I booked an aft penthouse on Jade; is this included with all the other suites?

We were in an S4 on the Epic in January and on the Epic, the S categories include the Haven.

Look closely at the descriptions of the cabins for the particular ship you are looking at regarding whether or not they include access to the Haven (if there is such a designation on that particular ship).

If you are asking if it will be a Have suite, I don't believe so. If you look at the deck plans, those included in the Haven now have an "H" (apprently a recent change, helps with any confusion as to whether a suite is included in The Haven), i.e., H1, H2, etc. and I believe the aft penthouse is a SF. There looks to be a Haven penthouse on deck 14.

NCL recently changed the suite category designations. All suites with Haven access now use the letter "H" in their category designation, while suites without Haven access start with the letter "S" in their category designation. So if you were to book the same suite you had in January, you would find it would no longer be designated an S4.

NLH Arizona, no I know I'm not in the Haven; I have a SF Penthouse; I was asking if this is still considered part of the suites on the ship; ie. concierge privileges, and breakfast in Cagney's, and priority tendering; stuff like that; I believe I am included in all this except have no access to Haven. Am I correct with my assumption?

If you have time post some pics of room and balcony. They should be similar.

We're thinking about booking an Aft Penthouse suite on the Dawn. This thread has been very helpful. A lot of my questions have been answered. But one of the things I saw listed and a "perk" on the NCL website was "mini bar". It doesn't really say what that means. Do you just have a mini bar available in the suite but have to pay for what you use? Is it free? We've never had a suite with perks before so I'm very curious what is included. Thanks.

There will be a mini bar in your suite, with items at a cost. There will be a price list nearby. (There may even be a copy of the price list floating around on here somewhere).

Yes, you pay for what is used...not free! I had them empty mine, so not sure what it had. I think most mini bars are overpriced.

I know that normally everyone thinks a mini bar is the fridge containing the little bottles of alcohol for sale, but I've seen lots of pictures of the haven suites (research for upcoming Epic cruise in a Haven Spa Suite), and I think they are saying that the minibar is the shelves you get with a range of wine goblets and tumblers, along with the bar kit (bottle opener etc).

Probably me just getting the wrong end of the stick again!

It's not a big item, but this misinformation shouldn't be perpetuated so that people don't complain about not getting something they think they're entitled to. There hasn't routinely been a personal escort to your stateroom for years, because staterooms aren't normally ready when you embark. Typically you're escorted to wherever the suite lunch is being served, such as Cagney's or the Haven Restaurant. You might get an escort to your cabin if you ask for it, if you happen to arrive after the rooms are ready for occupancy...or sometimes if you ask to be allowed to leave a carry on in your cabin.

In 2012 we had a bottle of wine in our PH. Wouldn't bother me if it wasn't offered next year because it was pretty cheap wine. I booked a PH again strictly for the large balcony, Cagney's perks ( or the Sun's version ) and the priority boarding. Anything else is just gravy.

Hello NCL cruisers,

We are looking to do our first NCL cruise next spring on the Gem and the postings here have been very helpful regarding the various suite benefits. I would appreciate knowing a bit more about internet on the ship, particularly in an aft suite.

I see on a link to perks that the NCL sheet shows "Wireless internet access" but what I'm wondering about is the pricing of packages for minutes and can't seem to find that info. At least I can only imagine it's not free! Would anyone be able to provide information on that?

On Celebrity in the suites we've gotten coupon packages for things like laundry and internet for so many free minutes and I was wondering if NCL does something similar.

Would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks in advance.
