thehappycruiserchick Posted July 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Since there is a lot of time to do various things, how do you spend your time on the "first" day at sea? Personally I take time to go to the gym, Jacuzzi, and explore the ship.
Donder1 Posted July 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2014 We go directly to the cabin, say hello and make introductions to our room steward and politely ask for any special requests like ice, wine glasses, throw for the balcony, etc. (We really make a point that there is no rush as the first day must be crazy for the stewards). Take a look at the Patter. Make any special dining reservations and check out our table, if possible. Then, off to the MDR for lunch. Explore the ship. Enjoy a glass of wine out on the balcony for sail away. Swim, shower and take in some entertainment (show, music, casino) Late seating for dinner. Relax and be grateful.;) And, the rest of the evening ......

NoobCruise Posted July 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Embarkation day or the first sea day? Embarkation, we drop our luggage in our cabin, then head to the bar at the pool for a drink, then explore the ship. Back to our balcony for sail away. Then dinner and maybe a show. First sea day, sleep in, then breakfast on the balcony with room service. We spend most of the day relaxing on the balcony. Meals we do whatever strikes the mood, whenever we get hungry. We catch a few games or shows along the way, but we spend more time on our balcony then out and about.
Rare Hlitner Posted July 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2014 We do the same on our first sea day as all sea days (and some of our cruises have over 20 sea days). NOTHING! Hank
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2014 First sea day DH heads to gym at 6 AM. I read. After breakfast we either read out on our verandah or do an if there is one listed that we like. Eat lunch and relax until dinner.
AKman2495 Posted July 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2014 on our sea days (not just the first) we like to get up early and walk -we usually do about 2 miles. Then we go back and get cleaned up and off to the MDR for a nice relaxed breakfast. After that, it depends on what's going on with the ship. W ,may go a movie, I like to read and my wife likes to nap. we go to lectures, and just in general relax. Lunch is hit or miss as to MDR vs buffet. We also like to hit the buffet in the afternoon for some tea and perhaps some desert(s)... Princess has afternoon tea, but it comes too late for us, as we like to eat dinner earlier. After dinner, a show perhaps, or maybe hit the casino for a while. etc. etc. etc.

Personally I take time to go to the gym, Jacuzzi, and explore the ship. I presume you are talking about the first full day, not embarkation day. If it is not a port day I have a leisurely breakfast, explore the ship, and read and/or take part in some activities. I am not a pool person. Treven Posted July 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 16, 2014 My actual first sea day is spent reading and just sitting out on deck, watching the waves go by. Then my second sea day, I spend it reading and just sitting out on deck, watching the waves go by. Get the picture?

zephyrgirl Posted July 17, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 17, 2014 I make sure to get up before breakfast stops being served (this is crucial, breakfast food is the most edible at the buffet IMO). After I eat, I will try to find a good spot in the sun and/or in the solarium if it's colder out to read. At some point I will eat lunch. Then I will usually get some sort of fruity beverage to enjoy with my afternoon sun and reading. Sometimes I take a break to people watch. I'm very exciting on sea days  If I feel like I just want an entire vacation like this, I will book an AI instead of a cruise to maximize my sunning, reading and people watching opportunities. ken02802 Posted July 17, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 17, 2014 I plan to do the exact opposite! We all like to do on vacation what we can't do at home. Since I'm retired, any day I feel lazy can be a do-nothing, sleep-late, sit-in-the-sun day. On sea days, I plan on seizing the day! I've never been on an ocean cruise (just river cruises) so I could be wrong but... If the weather is excellent, I'm planning to explore the ship while watching the scenery. If the weather is bad, I'm planning on participating in as many onboard events as possible. I know for most of you, occasionally doing nothing is a luxury. For me, anything outdoors and invigorating is exciting. :-) Sent from my iPad using Forums

But usually I am beat from lots of work to complete before leaving and all last minute organising Sleep becomes the must I then chill to get into the mood of the cruise Does depend on length of cruise though. If short then I'm into rock climbing or other lunacy Sent from my iPhone using Forums
