Were you satisfied with your "guarantee" room?

P.S. Honesty time:

Sooooo, I say I really don't care where/what cabins we get. But perhaps my sub-conscious is a bit more concerned based on my dream last night.

DREAM: We arrive at the port. We are given room cards and go to find our cabin. I am over the moon thrilled when the key opens a grand suite!! We walk in and the butler says, "Right this way." He leads us into a walk in closet where there are 2 cots made up and says, "These are your quarters. You may use the restroom facility but NOTHING else in the suite!"

Bahahahaha. :p

Of all the dreams to actually remember, this is it?? OY.

And the suspense builds. I sail October 12 on board the Magic. I am booked inside guarantee x 2 cabins.

Here is what is still available as of today (I might have too much time on my hands??):

Inside cabins all categories: 123

Ocean View all categories: 50

Balconies all categories: 86

Suites: 11

Total: 270 open staterooms

Crossing my toes for some type of an upgrade :D. Just hoping the two cabins are sort of close together or at least on same deck, which looks promising since there a ton of side by side cabins still open in all categories.

To be continued.....

Good Luck :) Also, where do you find how many cabins are available for each category?

On our second cruise we did a guaranty inside. It was a horrible room, last cabin on deck 4. Our cabin shook and shuddered every time we entered a port. Ear plugs didn't even help. Drawers opened and out stuff was always everywhere. That was in 2001 and we have not dared to do another guaranty. We booked a spa interior on our upcoming cruise. We booked an interior on deck 7 for our DS and his friend and our cruise friends booked a balcony on deck 8. Our friends ended up changing to a guaranty balcony and have almost $1000 in obc. We upgraded the DS to a guaranty balcony and he has almost $160 in obc. Lots of price drops if you were willing to give up your cabin. We were not. Cabins were just assigned and both parties are in spa balconies right across the hall from us!! We are psyched that everyone will be close together, but imagine our aggravation that we paid the highest price, have 0 obc and the smallest cabin! But would be gamble it all for the chance of getting a bad cabin? No way. I am pretty sure we would have ended up in the bunk bed cabins on deck 1. In which case my DH surely would have thrown me overboard. LOL My cruise friends are sure they all got spa cabins because our reservations are linked. Btw, you will never find us in the casino either. :D

well, we'll know 100% for sure starting this Sunday how satisfied we'll be with our balcony guarantee on the Pride, but I'm 98.99% certain we'll like it just fine based from a past Pride cruise in an extended balcony cabin 3 down from the one we'll be in next week.

What I am over 100% satisfied with are the price drops we've received over the last couple of weeks. We booked next weeks Pride cruise back in January, originally in a 4K, ES rate, which we've also stayed in previously. Last month, the prices on balconies dropped enough to where I was willing to give up our 4K and....this is the fuzzy part.....upgrade to a balcony guarantee....for to us what amounted too pennies, but, was told we would keep our ES "status". But then, prices started dropping...contacted Carnival who told me, no, we gave up our ES rate when we moved to the balcony guarantee during a "Pack and Go" sale.....um..whatever....anyhow...PVP I am now working with helped us get 4 price drops, the most recent 2 nights ago. The funny part to us is that each time he put in the price drop, we had to return to the "guarantee pool" and wait each time for a cabin to be assigned, however, each time, we were assigned the same cabin we were originally were given from the initial switch to a balcony guarantee.

So as we sit waiting for Sunday, we now have an extended balcony for less than the 4K (though those are much lower now also) we originally booked, and a nice chunk of OBC to help further enjoy the Pride next week.

The Carnival Dream upsell fairy just got us into a grand suite for $225/person for the week. They had 5 left 4 days prior to sailing.

Similar story with us on the same cruise. We booked 7A and ended up in 8K after several returns to the guarantee pool. Love the OBC and the nicest cabin we've ever had. Another 100% satisfied customer.

Not only did we get assigned a spa balcony across the hall from the above poster (our dear cruising friends), her DS & friend were assigned right next to us in a connecting room! If its not because all 3 of our reservations are linked, than that is a HUGE coincidence to say the least!! lol. This was our first time doing a guarantee cabin & we were so worried about what we would get but we are super stoked about the nice OBC we got along with the excellent cabin assignment!!!! Thanks Carnival :D

We got our balcony assignment today 38 days out. Originally booked in an inside stateroom on deck 2 but upgraded a couple of weeks ago at no cost to a balcony guarantee assignment. We are in cabin 8270. Right off the atrium and up the steps to Lido. Since it is just me and DD I think the location will be perfect! :)

DW and I are booked on the Breeze sailing in October. We picked our cabin originally (8B), but the guaranty rate is getting stupid low.

We have talked about it, and the rate goes down much more, we might jump into the gty pool. Our fear is that we would end up getting assigned a cove balcony. We toured on of these rooms on a previous cruise, and DW felt claustrophobic on the balcony.

Carnival is showing 149 balconies still available, with 11 being coves. How likely is it that we would end up with a cove balcony?

Also, does anyone know if there is a rhyme or reason to how they select your cabin?

Yes, I know it is a crap shoot, but I figure if anyone might have a guess, ti would be the people here.

I have no idea. We booked our gty room and got an assignment the next day. Yet our friends are still waiting on theirs and we sail Sept 21. Not to mention gty rates are so low right now if we have waited just one more week we could've saved another $200.

You and I both must have a lot of time! I've been doing the same thing.

:) Thanks for making me not feel quite so pathetic, LOL!!! Oh, and to the poster above, I check by doing mock bookings and count the cabins left on each deck. Yep, I'm that obsessed with this :D.

I paid one cabin off today and will pay the second cabin off next Friday. Next Friday will be the 30 day mark so maybe we'll get some assignments.

Just got our guar OV 31 days out on the Ecstasy. It's on Main deck and one of those aft facing cabins, one of the two bigger ones. I guess this was a great upgrade since the possibility was an aft on lower deck, 6B is what I usually get with guar OV, but usually it's on Riviera midship.

For our first cruise we didn't know much about booking a room and where to pick etc. We hadn't met cruise critic yet. We booked a guarantee on Ecstasy and got M222. It was a balcony guarantee and it was wonderful. It was the last balcony before they turned into OV's and so on one side we didn't have any balcony neighbors. I loved it. It was aft and quiet. Perfect. The Upgrade fairy did call us to offer us a suite but I can't remember for how much and my DH said no...

We booked a PT room a while ago for a New England/Canada cruise leaving at the end of this month. I noticed a major drop in price. So I called to see what they can do. The PVP stated that we could get OBC since we didn't book early saver but we got a gty ocean view. I was planning on taking any upgrade really after hearing there might be noise in the cabin we originally booked. I look at it as it's better than what I moved from and it was at no cost to us what's the worst that can happen?

We were thrilled with ours.

We booked a super-cheap inside guarantee last minute on the Glory. We received an inside cabin in on the upper deck, midship, in a good location.

The day before we left, the upsell fairy called and offered us a lido deck balcony cabin for a great price. We booked it, and both of us cruised for about the same price as that balcony cabin was priced per person :D

It was a great cabin and cruise!

I have had good luck with guarantees (booked inside, assigned balcony a couple of times) and also had the worst room ever with a guarantee. I booked Majesty of the Seas the day before sailing and wound up in a cabin next to a family of four. The kids were allowed to shout and scream and kick the walls at all hours of the day and night, with the parents eventually screaming at them, to no effect. The cruise was only $99 each, we still had a good time, and it was worth $198 to learn NOT to book next door to a cabin that holds four people :D

We booked our first inside guarantee. I am excited to find out where on the ship we end up. Forward? Aft? Midship? High or low? Any guesses?

Me too!!! Over 200 open cabins a few days ago for our October 12 sailing so maybe, just maybe we'll get some type of upgrade? I check my reservation several times a day to see if we have cabin assignments yet. The excitement is building. I am really easy to please and am expecting the worse but will have a great time no matter where we end up. :D
