Were you satisfied with your "guarantee" room?

My post being a no-brainer was in reference to suites generally being in a good location and not in the bowels of the ship near noisy equipment, nothing more. I wasn't trying to insult you, so if you took it that way, it was not meant as such.

Nope, not insulted at all. I understood completely. What I meant was that we always chose mid-ship and lower decks, so when we were assigned an Aft suite, instead of a mid-ship suite, we weren't sure if I would feel the motion more, etc., and we were a little disappointed. To our surprise it didn't happen at all, we loved it, and as it turned out we now always book an aft cabin. Not a suite though, because they can be a little pricey. (-:

OK good. The other thing to keep in mind too is not just fore, aft, midship location, but deck matters as well. A lower deck even far aft will have less motion when pitching or rolling as well.

Satisfied? You bet! Booked a balcony guarantee and got an Owners Suite! (not on Carnival)

Bedroom, living room. jacuzzi and 2 balcony's!! One off the bedroom and one off the living room.

Will probably never happen again in a lifetime!

I almost always book an inside guarantee - in 12 guarantees, I only once had a cabin that was in a poor location (under the wooden dance floor in the atrium bar). Most times I ended up with a significantly better-than-I-expected cabin - a couple of times I even scored an oceanview. I am very flexible with locations, though, and I figure any day on a cruise, in any cabin, is still better than being home and at work. Good luck!

My thoughts exactly right now. Im just gonna be happy to be on the ship anywhere and away from those 12 hour shifts lol!

Once again, I'm satisfied.

Sailing on Splendor on Monday and was really apprehensive about staying in an Oceanview on Deck 1.

I saw that prices had dropped quite a bit and decided to call and see what the deal was for a balcony. I was able to book a guarantee for $71 more.

Within 12 hours I had my cabin assignment....Balcony, Deck 8, Midship....in the same exact location where I was on the last 3 cruises.

I am thrilled!!!

I often kid myself into believing that I am flexible but after contemplation, realize that I really am not!;)

I have to face facts -- I am a control freak. It would make me anxious to no end to not selecet where I want to be on the ship, and to perhaps not even know assignment until sail time.

I always look fondly at the guarantee rates, but -- nope, can't do it! :o

BTW -- do they have a CFA (Control Freak Anonymous) support group with meetings on board??

I am the same way, Amy! I booked the VIFP Club Member Exclusive Offer about a week ago then realized a day after I booked it that there was a "Pride Balcony Sale" about $50 cheaper so I switched to that rate…even though it was a Balcony Guarantee. At first I thought it would be fun to take our chances but then I remembered I usually have the worst luck..LOL! So after two sleepless nights I checked fareviewer and saw there was an even lower rate (over $100 lower) for the "Sail from Florida" promotion so I called last night and changed AGAIN and now I am back to the room I originally booked!

Not only do I need a CFA support group but I also need an "EI" (Endless Indecisive) Support Group!!:D

Booked an inside gty on the breeze. Was assigned on the upper deck a little forward of mid ship. Would have been happy with it understanding there would be some noise as it was above the casino bar/band stand. However, watched price drops and paid $100 for an ocean view. So, would have been happy with it because I knew going in what I could have had, but chose to move.

We just received our room number for Carnival Dream and we are on the upper deck smack dab in the middle of the ship. We were kinda wary since last time we picked a balcony and our location, this time gambled on a guarantee interior...anyone really happy with their room or got upgraded?

Only ever went with a guarantee once and that was on our honeymoon cruise on the Pride(the only cruise I did not book myself). Ended up in a cat 8E. Loved the room and fell in love with cruising on this ship. Only reason that we do not book this way now is because we like to choose even though we were very happy when Carnival choose for us.

MY cruise in October will be my 12th Carnival cruise but the first one that I booked a GB. Got our assignment a couple of days ago and I am very pleased with out location. Veranda Midship forward. Not under pool area and close to stairs so just a quick jump up the Lido deck.

I feel the same way and had knots in my stomach doing this because I always like to know exactly where I will be. I had previously booked an Oceanview on Deck 1 (picked my own room) and then got panicky because I was on Deck 1..price drops came up and doing the balcony guarantee for only a few dollars more made me lose sleep because I didn't know where they were going to put me!

It did work out since my sailing is Monday and I got my cabin assignment 12 hours after I booked...midship, deck 8! Exactly what I would have chosen had I paid full price!

As stated in another post, I once booked balcony guarantee and got Owners Suite.

Perhaps, I'm a gambler at heart!!

Booked the Sunshine under the ES rate for four cabins with an assigned IS room, and was able to upgrade the four cabins to BL guarantee. All the rooms when assigned under the guarantee rate were together on deck #6 aft in a great location. Two of the cabins were able to upgrade a second time under another guarantee rate, and were assigned rooms on deck 8 forward with $420 obc. Both of the cabins were eligible to upgrade/upsell to an Ocean Suite for giving back the $420 obc from the previous upgrade/price drop plus an additional $120.00. One took it the offer, and the other stayed put!!!! The suite was nice, had plenty of room, but was not as spacious as some suites on previous Carnival cruises, on smaller/older ships. The room was used as a gathering space for those in our party, but I'm glad I stayed put.

I've noticed that the guarantee rate for an inside cabin and OV has dropped $60 bucks since we booked, is it worth looking into an upgrade? An OV would only be about $40 more now. We are already in a good spot with our gty cabin so not sure if we should mess that up lol.

I'm loving this thread! I just booked 2 guarantee cabins and it's the first time doing so.

We, 4 adults, were originally booked in one inside cabin for our October 12th sailing on the Magic. A few weeks ago, when Carnival ran a past guest promo, I noticed that I could get TWO inside cabins for $20 less than one inside...but I had to give up control of location. Done. Now my ex-husband and one son are in a cabin and my other son and I are in one. Having 2 bathrooms and no ex-husband: priceless :p

I love the excitement of checking every day to see if we have assignments yet. :D. I have no hopes/dreams of an upgrade. I will be happy with what we get. Just thrilled to be able to take my son on a cruise as his graduation gift.

Great deal for you, and great attitude.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

Me too.

My last cruise was nothing like deals I see now..

I had 800 dollar limit and one came about for a solo inside guarantee at that rate when i desperately had to go. I basically work and save and go when desperate..and look forward to more chances, flexibility and different cabins and lines..but i will always cruise some on Carnival..they have saved me past few years for what I call big "trippy" fly somewhere trips for the least possible and still nice!!

So Easter of 2012 I HAD to get out of dodge..it HAD to be a good deal..and there was a 5 day on Spirit to Cabo for my limit. I got an inside guarantee and got Veranda deck 7 I believe mid ship. I took earplugs and sometimes kids vaulted up and down on both sides..it was Easter..the best and the worst of it were the kids. The families all dressed up though. I love watching all that and still had great quiet moments and people moments.

But I really enjoyed a cruise that was far from flawless and packed with people and kids. Would I do that again??..

If that desperate yes..but I prefer another time and a window...or at least picking my inside or obstructed view..whatever..LOL...

It is a blessed bottom amt out financial option with pros and cons.

As usual, loving all the stories of what folks have done..always learning here.

And the suspense builds. I sail October 12 on board the Magic. I am booked inside guarantee x 2 cabins.

Here is what is still available as of today (I might have too much time on my hands??):

Inside cabins all categories: 123

Ocean View all categories: 50

Balconies all categories: 86

Suites: 11

Total: 270 open staterooms

Crossing my toes for some type of an upgrade :D. Just hoping the two cabins are sort of close together or at least on same deck, which looks promising since there a ton of side by side cabins still open in all categories.

To be continued.....
