Bailey & Sophie Posted September 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2014 I just read on the Port of Call board that Tortola has been cancelled. They are updating the pier. Disney and HAL are given priority berths. Anyone heard anything? We're scheduled to be there next Feb.
gi_pam Posted September 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2014 I booked a Celebrity Cruise, repositioning from San Juan to Bayonne, and there are several people on the roll call that do that cruise every year and they're disappointed because that itinerary usually includes Tortola. This year, an extra sea day on the same 8-day cruise. This would explain it, I guess!

Here is the thread on Tortola with the news report as to why cancelled from November 8th through Early 2015, And most who are on Jewel have St Thomas already as the alternative. We were one of the lucky ones. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2102764 Edited September 20, 2014 by PompeySailor

emeraldcity Posted September 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 21, 2014 That would be a loss. Glad they didn't go that updating last year, because we were at Tortola in December and it was the highlight of our cruise.

Rare shipshape sam Posted September 21, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) Could be worst. We had our 2009 Panama Canal cruise change itineraries 2 days into our 15 day cruise. Swine flu eliminated 3 ports of call in Mexico with arriving in San Diego around 3 pm and departing around midnight, Catalina Island off Los Angeles and arriving around 1 pm in San Francisco our port of departure the next morning. We still had a great trip and hope one day to get back to the ports of call we missed in Mexico I remember Tortola as a neat port. Of course I tend to look for positives. I like the other ports too! AmandaKaye79 Posted September 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2014 We were supposed to go June 2014 and it was cancelled. This pier work has been going on for a while. It must be taking longer than anticipated. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
caddie1 Posted September 21, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Our stop on Legend of the seas in December to Tortola has changed to St Croix. Not been to either so not disappointed.
Bailey & Sophie Posted September 21, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted September 21, 2014 It's still showing up on our itinerary for February for Legend. Maybe the size of the ship matters? Antigua is already on our itinerary. We were in St. Thomas and St. Croix 5 years ago. It would be OK if we were traded to one of them. Haven't been to St. John so that would be OK, too.
