three day to nowhere route?

Recommended Posts

Their main goals are:

1. get outside the 12 mile limit so they can open the casino and shops

2. don't burn too much fuel

Hopefully they will head south. I'm on the 3 day nowhere cruise.

Traditionally from Florida they hit 12 miles then do circles. Perhaps it will be an out and back route in a southern direction but that still won't get far and could burn more fuel.

Tongue in cheek

I do not think they are going to Nowhere

Nowhere is an unincorporated community in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. Nowhere is located at the southeast end of Fort Cobb Reservoir 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south-southwest of Albert and 14 miles (23 km) northwest of Anadarko.[1]

They tend to maintain the minimum speed required for the stabilizers to be effective (10-15 knots, depending on the ship and stabilizer design) and travel in a large circle unless they need to avoid bad weather.

We were on the Breakaway in January for a 2 nighter and they got down to DelMarVa Peninsula.

I will be on QotS on Nov 21 for 2 nights. Since it departs at 8pm (!!) I don't think it can go very far. Hopefully the three nighter can get to VA/NC.

Where does the ship go for 3 days? Does it head south to warmer weather?

As long as they head out into the Gulf Stream, it will be warmer than it would back in New York. Maybe not a lot, but probably 10 degrees warmer.

I am sure that they will head Southeast out into the stream

Thank you for teaching me something I did not know about the state where I was born.

Let's assume they travel between 12 knots (13.8 mph) and 15 knots (17.3 mph) to keep things smooth and not burn too much fuel. We leave Tuesday at 8pm and return Friday at 5am (I know they say 6am, but ship usually returns earlier). That's 57 hours. If we assume an average speed of 15 mph, that's 855 miles, or 427.5 miles each way. This map shows the MAXIMUM distance we could travel if we don't go around in circles.
