Ourusualbeach Posted October 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Before it got to really warm weather it would be time to turn around and head back.
boscobeans Posted October 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2014 ? Maybe into or with the prevailing winds for a smoother ride? bosco
amflor Posted October 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Is that not why they call It "nowhere":D. Looks like a big ocean out there, either live or on your digital balcony. EBJOY!!
BaumD Posted October 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Their main goals are: 1. get outside the 12 mile limit so they can open the casino and shops 2. don't burn too much fuel Hopefully they will head south. I'm on the 3 day nowhere cruise.
DEIx15x8 Posted October 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Their main goals are:1. get outside the 12 mile limit so they can open the casino and shops 2. don't burn too much fuel Hopefully they will head south. I'm on the 3 day nowhere cruise. Traditionally from Florida they hit 12 miles then do circles. Perhaps it will be an out and back route in a southern direction but that still won't get far and could burn more fuel.
jaydog240011 Posted October 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2014 On a 3 day cruise i would say they go to around south carolina than turn around. That what happens with 2 days cruises out of NY last year on NCL breakaway .
derf5585 Posted October 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Tongue in cheek I do not think they are going to Nowhere Nowhere is an unincorporated community in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. Nowhere is located at the southeast end of Fort Cobb Reservoir 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south-southwest of Albert and 14 miles (23 km) northwest of Anadarko.[1] from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nowhere,_Oklahoma
ahecht Posted October 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2014 They tend to maintain the minimum speed required for the stabilizers to be effective (10-15 knots, depending on the ship and stabilizer design) and travel in a large circle unless they need to avoid bad weather. jaydog240011 Posted October 2, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 2, 2014 They will do circles down south but from NY they will go south 4 warm weather in the fall winter i been on 10 1-2 night cruise from ny .
Shacky316 Posted October 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 3, 2014 We were on the Breakaway in January for a 2 nighter and they got down to DelMarVa Peninsula. I will be on QotS on Nov 21 for 2 nights. Since it departs at 8pm (!!) I don't think it can go very far. Hopefully the three nighter can get to VA/NC. smoosh21 Posted October 3, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Where does the ship go for 3 days? Does it head south to warmer weather? As long as they head out into the Gulf Stream, it will be warmer than it would back in New York. Maybe not a lot, but probably 10 degrees warmer. I am sure that they will head Southeast out into the stream

DonnaK Posted October 4, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 4, 2014 We are also curious about the actual route, as we are on the 3 day cruise too!
BaumD Posted October 4, 2014 #21 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Let's assume they travel between 12 knots (13.8 mph) and 15 knots (17.3 mph) to keep things smooth and not burn too much fuel. We leave Tuesday at 8pm and return Friday at 5am (I know they say 6am, but ship usually returns earlier). That's 57 hours. If we assume an average speed of 15 mph, that's 855 miles, or 427.5 miles each way. This map shows the MAXIMUM distance we could travel if we don't go around in circles. Life is Good Cruising Posted October 5, 2014 #22 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Also on the 3 day Sampler and don't really care where she's going, just excited to be sailing on Quantum. Edit to say that Lloyd was the one that gave me Quantum fever. Edited October 5, 2014 by Life is Good Cruising
