Britannia Features 'Multi-Sensory' Menus

Thanks for posting the menus. They sound absolutely fabulous. We usually try both menus in the fine dining restaurants once during a 2 week cruise, but I can see us struggling to chose just one item from each course, so will have to make multiple visits (although, on Ventura, when I was struggling to chose between two desserts they bought me both)!

£28 pp is somewhat excessive if you ask me .....

Out of interest, have you been to any of the fine dining restaurants on P&O ships (White Room, 17, Rhodes)?

Whereas the main dining rooms are 3/4 star hotel equivalents, the food quality, presentation, ambiance and service in the fine dining restaurants are in a completely different league and compete favourably with the best, even Michelin star, restaurants on land where you would pay £100 a head.

£28 is a very reasonable supplement IMO.

Bit rich to compare them to Michelin starred establishments on land however we thought the food in the White Room and Seventeen as well as Sindhu was of a pretty high standard and certainly worth the additional fee compared to the MDR. I always makes me laugh when I see people complaining about the cost of P&O extras as compared to Celebrity which is our other cruise line of choice P&One always seems like tremendous value for food and drink.

Hello to everybody. We have booked cruise B507 and the next one B508. We do not have any experience with P&O and we have two questions regarding dining.

1. We saw the menus examples for dinners and if it is possible to order for each of us more than one starter? But not the main dish.

2. We tried to order the Eric Lanlard's Afternoon Tea but the ordering is not available. What is the reason?

Yes, been to all the specialist restaurants on the three ships I have been on.

Christmas Eve on Oriana in the Ocean Grill was only £20 pp extra, and that included a glass of champagne. 17 was £15 if memory serves me correctly.

OK, fair enough, but I think it's important to distinguish between the select dining restaurants and the one (Max) proper fine dining restaurant per ship. Ocean Grill, for example, isn't fine dining.

Both our meals (and experience, service etc) was better in Oriana Rhodes than in Gary Rhodes London restaurant.

My favourite restaurant on land is the multi Michelin star Fat Duck at Bray (Heston Blumenthal). The Epicurean is clearly taking a lead from him but as my last meal there set me back over £300 for the two of us, I will suffer the £28 with pleasure!

Yes loads. But judging by all your constantly negative / sarcastic posts re P&O I don't really know why you frequent the P&O strand of this forum?

My post prior to this thread was confirming a usb plug would work on Arcadia, let me know the negative or sarcastic element of that post?

Prior to that I was helping someone out with the liquids rule.

Known as The Chav Duck, by those in the know.

Just some recent posts (last few weeks alone) from Richleeds who, of course, does not post negative or sarcastic comments about P&O;

"Yes, we can see them. I'd be cancelling my reservation."

"Anyone who arrives early and sits there like a meerkat waiting to get on as if their life depended on it, should be shot."

"I hope it's everything you think it's going to be."

"I agree. Also in the ship's lifts, the fatties who take up 2 spaces should go to the back of the queue, particularly at peak times when the theatre is emptying etc."

"Going by the average age of P&O punters, I doubt this would be an appetising sight."

Booked a table at Epicurean for my husbands birthday and are so excited about the menus. £28 seems a small price to pay for such a different dining experience!

It's very easy to brush it off as £28, but do remember, and this goes for all lines..... You have already paid for your 4/5/6 course dining experience in the MDR that night as part of your cruise fare, so this is an ADDITIONAL £28 rather than just £28.

That's how I feel about it. How different can it be? When on Azura, two couples at our table went to the Select Dining and didn't rate it at all. Sindhu on the other hand which was only a small charge, was very good.

We did not rate Seventeen on Azura. Found it more style over substance with menu options that harked back to the eighties. Sindhu however we thought was great.

Im hoping that they may need to offer discounts onboard since they have The Limelight Club, Epicurean Restaurant, Sindhu, Beachhouse and the Glass House as extra charge eateries. Thats quite a lot of seats to fill.
