CAS offer!

We have sailed 3 times with Norwegian and in our mail yesterday came an offer from CAS for a free cruise offer.

We have our choice of the Jewel in April or the Getaway in August. They are comping an inside cabin but of course we can upgrade for a fee. We of course pay taxes and port fees.

If we go , we'll probably choose the Getaway again because she's so big and beautiful.

Any tips hints or bad experiences with the cruises offered from CAS? It says we have priority boarding with CAS check in, a cocktail party and tournament along with a free drink card for both of us. Sounds like this might be something we'll use.

Book by 1/31 and you can get one of the promos being offered. (you can use with CAS)

Quoted for emphasis. This is a great promotion going on and if you decide that you want to take advantage of your CAS offer, it's a great time to book. You've only got a few more days. (I was told by CAS that it has to be booked by Friday, January 30, because that office isn't open on Saturday.)

I recently took advantage of a CAS offer to book Norwegian Escape for next year. The UBP as a promotion was very attractive, so now we'll get free drinks anywhere on the ship. I don't think that'll be worth the ~$800 in value for the two of us, but certainly worth at least $200-300 or so given sodas during the day, wine with dinner, and a couple evening adult beverages.

If you book while the current promotion is going, and you upgrade to Oceanview or better you will be able to get either UBP,UDP, or OBC as well. I have taken advantage of CAS cruises 3 times and have a 4th booked for July 4th on the Getaway in a Mini Suite Large Balcony with the OBC. CAS has been very good to me.

I was comped a balcony and upgraded to PH but the promotion is for ORIGINAL booking so I only got what I was allowed for a BALCONY cabin.

We always book through CAS and love them! Only downside with these tournament cruises is that as they are full of gambling folk....it is harder to get machines/table spots much of the time.

Last one we participated in we finally decided to have dinner and then go to the room to relax for awhile and THEN head to the casino around 11:00 to midnight. Usually we go STRAIGT after dinner.....we prefer to book "regular" cruises but do book through CAS for their discounts and perks. Also this way we choose the dates.....

Again, we LOVE CAS but are just happier when we can find available seats at our video poker machines or favorite table games.....which is harder on these casino promotion cruises due to the higher number of gamblers.

I wish I could get an offer on a CAS cruise. I was on Jade last week for 10 days, and guess the number of evenings there were enough people for a cash poker game. Yup, 0.

I have noticed that with my friends that play Texas Hold em, I guess the rake isn't enough for NCL since they will play for hours and hours and not get any CAS offers. I see consistently that slot players (like me) get lots of offers. My mom plays a lot of 3 card/Let it ride/blackjack and she gets offers also. I think the difference is Texas players are not playing against the house so NCL doesn't make enough on those players to rate a comp.

A 10% rake for a few hours each evening is double the normal land rake, so should be plenty to pay a third world dealer, make some profit, and give away some freebies.

Maybe the fact that its 10% is making poker players keep their money in their pocket for post cruise land casinos.

NCL used to have a really good 1/2 cash game......where have all the players gone.

This is the first time I've ever received an offer from CAS. I'm guessing I did because my next cruise on NCL I booked directly through them. I'm thinking that's why I received the offer because prior to that I never received anything from them!

For those who get these comps from CAS, may I ask how much you have gambled and lost to receive such offers?

I called CAS and they told me I need to lose $2000+ in order to get anything free. And they said it's not based on how many points I have earned from my cruises. Is that true?

The one time I got an offer I assure you I didn't lose $2000. But we did spend a lot of time at the tables. Man would I love an offer now!

I can say I have lost, and I have won. Overall last year I won more trips then I lost and I have 7 upcoming cruises comped right now right through 2016.

I don't think I've lost that much in all of my cruises combined!!!

No, they use a formula; theoretical loss and has more to do with how much you bet, how long you play and what you play:

Take the Casinos Advantage (depends on what game) and multiply it by your total wager

(Casino Advantage) X (Total Wager)

Total Wager = (Average Bet) X (Number Of Bets)

You will then be comped a percentage of this theo.

There's a big difference amongst machines. Video Poker is often their lowest advantage (therefor, you are accumulating less points than slots) but that depends on the paytables.

Someone can put in a 100.00 and play a 3 coin, $ machine for 4 hours. Another person can put in (20) 100.00 and play for 4 hours. Machines being equal/same, your rating and accumulated points are the same.

There are other factors they consider but for simplicity sake, the point being that it is normally not how much you lose but the action you give a casino. How marketing uses all this, + other factors and comes up with offers or discounts, is a mystery. A sure thing is "occupancy" is a large factor when looking for comped/discounted cabins.

I would never post what I won, lost or amount of time I play. Those that do, keep in mind, may not be accurate, or important details are missing. I play mainly $1-5$ VP. I also play table games. I play several hours and give them lots of action, but I don't think that will help you.

I recommend talking to a casino host when you have play established or you can give them an accurate idea of what you historically play. They should be able to explain what you can expect in comps/offers. A CAS rep was able to tell me, BUT I have read this is not usually the case. Your experience was unfortunate. You could try calling another rep or talking to a host onboard.

Just called earlier today and booked Alaska cruise in July for a balcony for $800. Taxes and port fees. Regular cost is $3609. I will take. Love CAS. other cruise lines can't match pricing in my book

That's amazing! I booked Alaska in June through them but the best I could get was 20% off!!!

You do have to play plenty. And, in the long run, the more you play, the more you will lose. That is how they stay in business.

Losses MIGHT factor in, but overall play is the deal. But, as a business person, if person "A" lost $2,000 and the casino discounted your cabin by $3,000 - they took a MAJOR loss. MAJOR.

I don't think "losses" are part of the comp offer calculations. I read asubaru's post this time, and in the past, and I agree with him......makes the most sense. However, I do think that "actual" losses do have an impact when the hosts review your play at the end of a sailing when offering additional comps. From what I have gathered here, it sounds like a losing trip generates more dollars on that final comp whereas a winning trip usually reduced that amount. I may be wrong, but if you have experienced a good additional comp at the end of a sailing after a winning cruise, let me know, so I can adjust my mental picture. Thanks!

IMO you could not be further from what is actually going on.

IMO it is all based on theoretical loss.

My last cruise I took a beating. Could not hit anything on any game I played.

My total points were lower than any cruise I have had on NCL.

They took ZERO off of my final bill. Granted I dd not have many charges but

ZERO.

The hosts DO have leadway on what is reduced from you bill. The hosts on the Dawn Dec 14th cruising were the worse I have seen on my 6 NCL cruisings. Never seen one on the floor the entire cruise. When you did approach one at their desk they were very indifferent.

My very best cruise I actually came out ahead as far as cash in pocket and rewards from CAS. IMO it is based on theoretical loss and the hosts mood..

Christina on the Jewel and Christina on the Getaway (two sepesate people) are stand up hosts!
