Casinos on Princess Alaska Cruises

We've been on cruises, sailing between US ports, where the casinos don't open. We're on the Crown this summer for an Inside Passage voyage and wondering ig the casinos will be open or closed when at sea? I searched for the answer but didn't find anything.

Was that on Princess?

I know it was Princess at least one time. In 2007 we cruised islands in French Polynesia for four days and then headed out for five days at sea before cruising the Hawaiian islands for the last four days. The casino was never open again on that cruise once we got to the first Hawaiian island. I never asked why but I assumed (maybe wrongly!) it was because 1) we were sailing between US ports or, 2) all that water between the Hawaiian islands is considered to be "within the US" and not in international waters. That's why I thought that might happen again in Alaska.

Hawaii is a no gambling state. While in and around Hawaiian waters, casinos are closed. There is no BINGO either. Occasionally, the captain will take the ship past Kauai and open the casino for a few hours.

Getting back to the original question, I got this information from the Princess Patters from last years cruise on the Grand Princess. The Casino will be open:

Day 1, Leave Seattle

Opens 5 Hours after leaving Seattle

Slots and Texas Hold’Em Table will be Open all night

Day 2 Sea Day No Smoking Night

Tables Open at 10:00am

Day 3 Ketchikan

Casino opens 30 minutes after sailing

Slots and Texas Hold’Em Table will be Open all night

Day 4 Tracy Arm/Juneau

Tables Open at 10:00am

Close 1 Hour before arrival – Reopen 30 min after sailing

Day 5 Skagway

Casino reopens 30 minutes after sailing

Slots and Texas Hold’Em Table will be Open all night

Day 6 Sea Day No Smoking night

Tables Open at 10:00am

Slots and Texas Hold’Em Table will be Open all night

Day 7 Victoria

Casino will close approx.. 2:00pm or 5 hours prior to arrival of Victoria

You'll have plenty of time to gamble away the grand kids college fund. There's no such thing as a winner, just a slow loser.
