Vibration on Caribbean Princess

We did a Canada/New England cruise aboard the Caribbean Princess in 2012 and greatly enjoyed the trip. We are now considering another cruise aboard her but there was one thing that bothered us about the last cruise. There was a constant vibration everywhere on the ship. There was no where to get away from it including our room (E318), the casino, the dining room, buffet, anywhere. You could always feel it subtly there and sometimes not quite so subtle. We have travelled on HAL Volendam and QM2 and have felt vibrations here and there but nothing of a constant. Is it still this way on the Caribbean Princess or was this an unusual situation? Thanks for any info. Kelly

I have been on the Caribbean several times including one time in a stern cabin on the Caribe deck. I did feel some vibration but mostly engine noise in that cabin. Other than that one cruise I have had balcony cabins in the stern portion of the ship and not really felt any vibrations from the propellers. It sounds like they may have been having problems with one of the screws and only using one 100% while the other was reduced or the ship was running at top speed (~23 knots or so). I would not be worried but if you are book a cabin midship to forward.

Not sure if they ever got to the bottom of what was causing it but we felt it on two cruises on her last year. We were aft both times on Dolphin and Emerald decks but you could feel it all the way up in Horizon court. We've been on many other ships and agree that vibrations weren't as bad as we experienced on the Caribbean.

Yes we really noticed it up in buffet and was surprised to feel it on the higher decks. Can anyone say if this is in fact normal and we will find it again or was it a rare thing to have vibrations in the whole ship? I am not complaining here but just trying to be prepared should we book again. I know lots of you have sailed on her so can anyone else give a little insight? Many thanks, Kelly

We were on Carribean Princess for two weeks last month and never noticed any vibration. Our cabin was an aft mini suite on Emerald. It was briefly noisy when docking but that is always the case.

  • 2 weeks later...

We just returned from 23 days on the Caribbean Princess with very little vibration. We were on Plaza deck and the only noise we heard were the 40 foot waves slapping against the ship one night in 65 knot winds.

We found the trip on the whole very enjoyable.
