Ovation of the Seas - Inaugural B2B cruise review (with lot's of photo's!!)

Recommended Posts

No problem.......I'm in denial the cruise is over - this is my way of dealing with it (lol) :D

I will have my time on her June 12 in Singapore. Thanks again for the review. You are teaching me sone of the ins and outs of this class ship.

Can't wait for you to continue your pictorial review. It is excellent. I am booked on the Ovation of the Seas in January 2018 (soooo far away). Sailing from Sydney to Tasmania, South Australia and back to Sydney on 8 day cruise. Booked cabin 7658 balcony which is similar to your cabin.

Being a brand new ship it is always great to get first-hand knowledge of what to expect. The Ovation does not reach Sydney until December this year, but I am sure it is eagerly awaited by many Australian cruisers.

As it is so very different to most cruise ships currently operating your insights and impressions are very welcome. Many thanks.

Thanks everyone for your kinds words.....I'm glad you are enjoying the review so far.

@Pipo The ship did have a nice new smell, all the carpets smelt new (not that I was going around sniffing all the carpets - I'm weird, but not that weird!!)

Anyway, where were we?

After our little explore of the gym, followed by some quality swimming and hot tub action (the front hot tubs of the Solarium + over looking the suspension bridge and Rotterdam skyline = Amazing!), we got ready for dinner. Whilst we got ready, Ovation was bidding farewell to Rotterdam as we started to sail away....

We went via Vintages for some Prosecco to take with us to dinner...

Tonight we were in American Icon (one of my personal favourites of the DD options). I was very pleased as we were shown to our table for two by the window......Result!!!

It was starting to get dark now, which enabled me to take some photo's of outside as well as a reflection of the dinning room....

p><p>All along the river route, people were lining up taking photo

Thanks everyone....glad you're enjoying the review. For all those booked on this ship, you're info a treat. There is lots to love!

So, we took our B52's from the Schooner bar with us for a bit of a stroll (via the Bionic Bar and Music Hall) and eventually ended the evening chilling out and people watching and chatting. They have some really nice "chill-out seats" opposite Vintages.

Dave

What a brilliant review, easily the best I've read on here and I've read hundreds over the years. The ship looks incredible.

My family are booked on Voyager of the Seas from Sydney to Singapore in April 2017 but after reading your review we are very tempted to cancel the Voyager and book the Ovation Sydney to Singapore in February 2017.

I would be interested to know your opinion. After cruising on the Ovation do you think it is worth paying double the cost to that of a cruise on the Voyager for the same itinerary and number of nights?

Yeah, Joff is by far the best Cruise Director we've had - I'm not sure if his wife was also onboard or not....

Great review so far. Looking forward to reading how the B2B part was handled as I'll be doing that in Southampton next month.

I agree about Joff, he is great. I thought I saw Amber one morning on the 5 night but was surprised she wasn't helping at Love & Marriage like she used to on Independence.
