Bon Voyage to all on ye olde Sea Princess 2016 'Worldie.' Did you see the two cruisers on Sunrise - Ch7 today. They have over 4000 days with Princess, just got back yesterday on Sea Princess from 35 day Hawaii cruise and now off on the worldie. And I thought I was addicted !!

PS I did a couple of cruises B2B on Thursday, River Cat Circular Quay to Parramatta and after that the Manly ferry. Should soon get Elite on Sydney Harbour Ferries, LOL.

Part of the perks with Sydney Harbour Ferries is you get to cruise for free after the first two cruises (or less if you have a gold Opal Card!). Though the loyalty level resets after each day.

I just scraped in for ye olde gold opal card so max $2.50 was payable for the day. I thought I would get upgraded to a mini suite but on ye olde Ferry - MV Freshwater, LOL.

I saw that segment. They looked happy. She was very excited. 9 world cruises.

They must have the dosh though. A Princess Worldie in a decent cabin would be around 80K plus for two and on the TV show they were going into a cabin on D (Dolphin) deck which would be balconies/mini suites I would reckon. So cruise tickets, drinks, shorex added on, not much change from 100K, yikes.

No doubt they had a few nice bottles of champers and a season ticket for the cover charge eateries from Princess for doing the promo on Ch.7. Anyway good on 'em. Hope they enjoy it all, One cannot use that Visa Card in Heaven and as Uncle Les always says..'Adventure Before Dementia - Live for today !!

Or as Princess says..Escape Completely/Come Back New !!

An error in above, checking re SP - Deck 8 is Dolphin Deck, no balconies/minis.

I think it's a bit rough that Princess (or any other line for that matter) don't count tender trips, surely each of those is a cruise.:D:cool::p

Still a fair wack of dough, Uncle Les.

Maybe one day for the Guts.

I've yet to see a travel agency in a graveyard.

This situation will become more common as Australians retire with the enormous funds they will collect from the superannuation they are paying into.

The cruise lines are also well aware of the impending flood of wealthy retirees....When was it they said Australian would have a brand new ship of its own?

I get the feeling that Princess will be sending the Majestic down here and it wouldn't surprise me if Carnival new ship has a spin down under too. Also isn't PO Australia getting a brand new one.

But David the enormous super funds you mention have to last a retiree and spouse/partner for life, i.e. investing it for a return to live on. If he/she starts drawing 100K a time for these World Cruises then that is a big dent in say a retirement lump sum of 700K, thus the return becomes less and less. One reason why I am happy with a defined benefit pension, indexed to CPI for life, it is there every fortnight, no investment worries and not taxable. I just save for our trips and I then spend what I want whilst away from my fortnightly State Super Pension.

If I had taken a lump sum when I retired in 2003, age 55, I would have spent most of it by now, cruises, airfares, land trips, flash cars, boats, caravans, better quality dog food for the Labrador and no more Chateau Cardboard, bottles of wine please!!

No way could I live off ye olde age pension, which I/we don't get anyway because of means test on my income/assets. You Kiwis and the Poms are automatically entitled to an aged pension, right? No means test.

Anyway had my whinge for the day, I feel better now, LOL.

Good point Mr Gut, I hasve done a few tender trips. Also, Carnival Corporation should buy Sydney Ferries, then we could become 'Super Elite on Princess' LOL.

I will give Ms Sherry, CEO of Carnival Orstralia a call.

Those defined pensions are a thing of the past. Some of the golden oldies got on a good wicket back then until some realised it cost the country too much money and stopped them. I have a friend that on a Federal one. CPI indexed twice a year and for life.

Indeed they are GOLD Sarah, the NSW Govt closed our one up in 1988, other than those who joined my job (The NSW Gendarmerie) pre 1988. No doubt State Super want us Dinosaurs and their spouses/partners to go overboard on a cruise so as they can stop paying us !!

Anyway I have hijacked this thread, so back to it, before the CC Police smash me, looking forward to reading the blogs on the SP WC.

also a blog post from Jo at http://lifestylefifty.com/

I gather it's her first ever cruise, so should give quite a different slant on the experience.

Well by reading between the lines this is sponsored blog.... She mention being escorted on board by Angus and her links take you back to the princess website. She is also going interview passengers and crew.....

From her site shows an award that she has won for blogging .... And she runs blogging workshops.....maybe she is a guest speaker

She stated on a previous post that this is a free cruise. I wouldn't say no

They aren't that far in the past. The military is only changing from a defined benefits scheme this year for new entrants.

No matter what form your retirement takes, if it allows you to live comfortably and cruise then life's good in my book [emoji6]

Sponsored blogs are quite common . When on a cruise with Regent once , I met the Donna . She is a professional writer and has her laptop with her most of the time . This one is her own called Boomer Travel. I believe she has a very big following.
