Hammock on Aft balcony?

Ok so I saw some videos of people who have tied up a small tree hammock on their balconies mostly on NCL, wondering if anyone here has done this on Carnival? I called to ask and the kind lady didn't know the answer, but said it sounds like an awesome idea lol. Anyone know??

I've definitely seen people post that they have hung those hammocks on the aft balconies. Give it a try. It sounds heavenly.

Just ties like you would tie it around a tree. I was thinking to tie it around the metal frame on the sides of the balcony. Like I said I called and the lady didn't know for sure the answer. Looks like most people buy the $19.97 or $29.97 travel hammocks from the sporting goods section of walmart.

People can fall out of a hammock and hit the deck, the railing, or even go over the railing.

 

Kids would love playing in one so they could be in danger.

 

I believe it could also pose a fire risk, as all cruise lines warn against putting any kind of clothing, towels or material on a balcony deck.

We just receive a travel hammock & could not find it listed as restricted item.

Not planning on bringing as next cruise is Alaska (first time.) I have seen them attached at heavy welded balcony divider hinge, and opposing angle railing. I think would need to be kind wrap cord around and using caribbeaner clips to take down when not using as they don't even allow a towel drying on balcony due to fire hazard.

 

Hope someone gives us more info, may like to use on Caribbean cruise as nylon & easy to pack.

I brought mine on our last cruise. I'd take it down most of the time when I wasn't using it but the steward did see it and never said anything. I'd also leave the straps up so I could just re-clip the hammock.

Hanging it was easy with the balcony dividers.

Whether or not people get away with it, it is a violation of CCL rules. It poses a fire hazard. Not only is it potentially flammable materiel - see other posts where people have woken up to find cigarette butts on their balcony because someone from above didn't dispose of them properly - but also would hinder the fire crew dealing with an emergency.

 

If you listen at muster you are told not to leave ANYTHING on your balcony.

 

Its a great idea in theory and I know I would enjoy one, but given the above, please don't do it.

My husband does it every time with no issues. He doesn't leave it out when we are gone. The aft balcony railing area is slanted, he just fixes it so it's hanging under there. A perfect view of the wake!:cool:

I know that we have been docked before right next to a cruise ship that had hammocks permanently installed on every balcony of the ship. Unfortunately at the moment I can't remember the name of the cruise line.

One of the luxury lines we looked at had that-Paul Gauguin maybe?

 

The hammock idea from the OP sounds fine, just make sure to take it down when not in use.
