gooch47 Posted June 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2016 We just booked a cruise on the Explorer of the Seas in cabins on Deck 6 directly above the Star Lounge. Wondering about noise. We were surprised to get even these since it is for the July 1 sailing.
molly361 Posted June 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2016 I would be leery of being right over a lounge

gooch47 Posted June 3, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2016 We have lived here all our lives and have never gone to Red White and Boom. Not likely to, either. Just not into crowds.
Hoopster95 Posted June 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2016 We just booked a cruise on the Explorer of the Seas in cabins on Deck 6 directly above the Star Lounge. Wondering about noise. What's your cabin number? How far forward are you? If you're back towards the Promenade I think you'll be mostly fine. I've heard from some who have stayed right above the stage (interiors, on other ships with the equal lounge ie. Indy and Navigator) who heard the thumping below of the live band nightly, so if you go to bed early could be a slight annoyance. I stayed in 6204 on NOS, a forward facing OV which was just above the lounge but slightly forward... heard nothing from the lounge at all at any time, but heard the slamming metal door occasionally of the crew area immediately below. As is mentioned often, sometimes a crap shoot when booking a cabin with public space above or below you
libertybelle41 Posted June 3, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2016 We were surprised to get even these since it is for the July 1 sailing. There just might be a reason they were still available. :/ Personally, I only book cabins that have other cabins above and below. I've been there, done that....never again. FOXTROT Posted June 3, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2016 Have not that on Explorer but on it's sister ship Navigator. We were on deck 8 same side & down about 10 cabins. The noise was not too bad except one night. We usually do not go to bed until after midnight.
gooch47 Posted June 3, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 3, 2016 Cabins are 6652 and 6526. I had the numbers wrong. One is above a bar, the other is above the lounge.
OfTheSeasCruiser Posted June 3, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2016 Cabins are 6652 and 6526. I had the numbers wrong. One is above a bar, the other is above the lounge. 6652 is actually above the dining room. I don't think that will be too big of an issue.
papaflamingo Posted June 3, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 3, 2016 Looks like above the R bar. I don't think that there's any entertainment in the R Bar. I doubt you'll have a big problem. But if you hear a lot of noise, just go down and join the fun. :)
CupcakeSusie Posted June 3, 2016 #11 Share Posted June 3, 2016 I will be interested to hear your thoughts after you get back. We are on deck 6 above the MDR in January.
molly361 Posted June 3, 2016 #12 Share Posted June 3, 2016 The one over the R bar should be okay. Over the Star lounge could be noisy unless like others have said you are not an early to bed person
