LA_CA_GAL Posted July 6, 2016 Author #126 Share Posted July 6, 2016 Can me tell me more about Chic nights? I noticed just about nothing different from "regular nights". Maybe a tux or two, couple of suits, but the majority just dressed accordingly.
NJPrisonCop Posted July 6, 2016 #127 Share Posted July 6, 2016 We were on the same cruise. Family of 5. Overall a nice cruise. Missed a few things from a larger ship, but nothing too major. We just wanted to watch some sports while drinking our beer :) Only one was in the Casino.
kenevenpar Posted July 6, 2016 #128 Share Posted July 6, 2016 Glad you had a good time. Great pics and interesting review. I liked seeing pics of the pool areas during the day. I never made it up there - was more happy being out on our huge balcony in peace. The Solarium sure looked nice though. Just FYI - your cabin wasn't a "suite". I think they used to have Aqua Suites on the S-Class ships but not anymore and they were totally different from your cabin and came with the full suite perks. Your cabin was a regular balcony cabin, the same size as the sometimes more expensive Concierge Class cabins, but with different amenities and the extended balcony. ;) OP's cabin was an Aqua class. Correct, not a suite, but larger than a standard balcony on M class ships.
NJPrisonCop Posted July 6, 2016 #129 Share Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) FYI, the restaurant pictured in your ST GEORGE'S photo (WAHOO'S) was amazing. Fish tacos and Wahoo Chowder highly recommended. Edited July 6, 2016 by NJPrisonCop

Yes, by 20SF, which is why I compared it to a CC which is the same exact size.
dst Posted July 7, 2016 #131 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Great review - thanks for the fabulous pictures....we are considering this cruise. We have never sailed Celebrity - we are regular RCCL and CCL cruisers but have always wanted to try Celebrity and Bermuda. Do you know if RCCL status is transferable to Celebrity? What is Blu - specific to suites or certain cabins, can I ask why you did not dine in the MDR? Did you book the excursions on your own or through the cruise line Sorry for all the questions - just not sure what to expect from Celebrity Thanks
LA_CA_GAL Posted July 7, 2016 Author #132 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Do you know if RCCL status is transferable to Celebrity? It is not. What is Blu - specific to suites or certain cabins, can I ask why you did not dine in the MDR? Blu is a smaller private dining area that is for Aqua Class patrons. Did you book the excursions on your own or through the cruise line There is no reason IMHO to book any excursions through the cruise line. It is so easy to go wherever on the ferries, shuttles, or cabs. Sorry for all the questions - just not sure what to expect from Celebrity Thanks See comments above in maroon italics. We have sailed many times on RCI. This was our first time on Celebrity, and I would absolutely do it again. It met or exceeded all of our expectations. Also, leaving out of Bayonne was just great, coming from Philly area, less than two hours to the port, no flying.
Charles4515 Posted July 7, 2016 #133 Share Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) Do you know if RCCL status is transferable to Celebrity? They do match some status. If you are Platinum on Royal then you will be Select status on Celebrity. If you are Diamond on Royal then you will be Elite status on Celebrity. CruisingChick Posted July 7, 2016 #134 Share Posted July 7, 2016 They do match some status. If you are Platinum on Royal then you will be Select status on Celebrity. If you are Diamond on Royal then you will be Elite status on Celebrity. Also, if you are Diamond Plus or Pinnacle you will still only come over as Elite. We are Elite Plus on Celebrity but can only go as high as Diamond on RCCL using this program.
dst Posted July 7, 2016 #135 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Thanks everyone - that's awesome news about RCCL loyalty program we would be Elite on Celebrity Can anyone say what the perks are on Celebrity We are considering doing a concierge class is it worth it or should we just do a Veranda.......I am also tempted to do a suite - which is normally what we do on RCCL every January So many decisions ;)

Celebrity's is only 2 hours from 5-7. There's no "decidated lounge" like RCCL has a Diamond Lounge. But it's still good. I can't help you with the stateroom, on Celebrity we usually book insides. RCCL has that nice balcony discount and Celebrity doesn't. Good luck.

vuildog Posted July 7, 2016 #139 Share Posted July 7, 2016 F Which was about right. At least I didn't get lost. I'm having a senior moment, and cannot remember the guide's name. Same as in your picture. But he had to circle back to find some stragglers in our group. They had a child who was a little freaked out by the speed and bouncing. I suggested my mother and the kid share a wave runner back to Somerset. She hated wave running, but we still ended up second in the conga line despite her screaming at me to slow down. So don't feel too bad. But you are absolutely correct about going fast. Made for a much smoother ride! We also hit Flanagan's! Our first day in Bermuda, it rained all day. So our Horseshoe Bay plans were nixed. I guess our $75 tab for 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine, half order of nachos, and a chicken sandwich was a steal!! Loving your review. Thanks for sharing! The only difference we noticed were the dang photo backdrops blocking the way in every hall  Edited July 7, 2016 by Brangwen

imacruzinma Posted July 7, 2016 #143 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Hey Gal, thanks for helping me revisit the wonderful week we had. Love your photos. Funny, you must have met my husband. I believe he took some of your money (lol)...he did very well at poker and was there almost every night (Ed). I'm not a poker player and having given my meager "allowance" to the house very quickly, I decided to stay out of the casino. For anyone else reading, we bought 2 day passes for the bus/ferries but would not recommend that. Took the slow and hot route 7 bus to Horseshoe Bay and ended up grabbing a cab back because we wanted to be more in control. If you go to Horseshoe, be sure to walk all the way down to the coves at the far end where it is peaceful and away from the kiddies and crowds. The token system would have worked fine for us as we took the ferry to both Hamilton and St. Georges. Enjoyed seeing both towns and the Wednesday "festival" gave the Hamilton waterfront some night life that I think it doesn't really have. Our guys played golf at the Port Royal course that you have pictured. They loved it! We girls went horseback riding on the beach and that was absolutely beautiful. We booked through cruiseline so that included the cab, but the stable can be found on Trip Advisor with pretty high ratings. The ship was great, I'm sorry we missed that second sea day due to the rain...but there were lots of things to do...including a long nap! Shorts in the Dining Room? I saw all kinds of dress in the evenings including the family next to us in the MDR with teen aged boys in gym shorts and t-shirts. Hmmmm, can't say that was "acceptable" attire, but they did it. Chic night for our guys was a sports jacket, the tie didn't last long. Us girls wore dresses that would be appropriate as a wedding guest. On regular nights, sun dresses or nice slacks and a top. My packing faux pas was that I didn't bring a cardigan, so consider that most evening events are in the a/c and on the rainy days I was a little unprepared to be chilly. Agree that Bayonne was awesome. From my driveway to drink on the lido was less than 2 hours. Thanks again for the great review and awesome photos.
