Head on over to the Florida Departures board. My personal favorite is the Embassy Suites on 17 St. - it has everything you're looking for.

Hi, what is a good pre-cruise hotel in Ft. Lauderdale? We just want to be walking distance to food and somewhere to pick up toiletries and wine. Thanks!

Consider either Pier 66 or Hilton Marina. Both are very close to the port, and are reasonably priced unless you're going during a peak time.

We've stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th twice so far and would definitely stay there the next time we cruise from Port Everglades.

Besides the complimentary full breakfast consisting of made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, potatoes, and more than the usual hotel breakfast, there is also an evening Manager's Reception every night. Offerings include a selection of free adult beverages :D and munchies.

Directly behind the Embassy Suites, a five minute walk, is a shopping plaza. There are restaurants, shops, and a supermarket that sells wine

We always ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the port. The views of the ships coming in to port is wonderful and a great start to vacation.

There is also a Total Wine & More which has a much better selection of wines in the same plaza (Harbour Shops).

http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info.

Lots of hotels in a variety of price categories in the downtown/17th street area. Dates and a budget would help the suggestions to be closer to your target - the under $100 hotel room in August can go for $300+ in Feb.

Coming from the Midwest, if in winter, you might prefer a beach located hotel like we do. Altho 17th St hotels are nice, they are located on a busy street and need a ride to the beach. Much depends on your budget, time of arrival and what you are interested in doing. It's not too spread out.

Embassy suites also worked well for us. In addition to welcome cocktail party and breakfast to order, it is short walk (1 block ) to shops, restaurants, groceries. They have shuttles to port and from airport. If you drive, they allow parking while you are away.

Our cruise is leaving on October 23, 2016. We will be flying into Ft. Lauderdale the afternoon before our cruise...so we really only need a place to crash, grab wine and a few last minute toiletries, and dinner for the night. We will not be renting a car so prefer to walk or call Uber.

Embassy Suites looks very nice but it's about $220 plus tax in October. Looking for something a lil less expensive, if possible, seeing that we won't fly in until around 5pm the day before cruise.

Hyatt Place right behind Embassy Suites is $149 plus tax for your date. Book through ValueTrips.com

I have stayed there several times and it is nice. You can walk to the Harbour Shops in 5 mins. for restaurants, Total Wine, Publix etc.

Book Hyatt Place using valuetrips.com. $149. Free Airport shuttle and breakfast. Steps from Embassy Suites, so near all the same stores (including Total Wine) and restaurants. $12 or so cab ride to port in morning.

Look at Holiday Express on 17th St too.
