Star Class Questions -- looking for answers from those who have sailed

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some answers for those who have sailed in Star Class suites. I have searched on current and past threads but have not found all the answers to my questions. I also checked on RC Star Class Perks page and previously saved links and the answers aren't there either. So here are my questions that I hope you can help me with. Thanks in advance.

Andrew

In the beginning it said laundry was included. I could not find it anywhere today. Is it included?

Pop is included. Does that included canned pop at bars around the ship? I did read that items in the cabin fridge are included which does have canned Coke. I only ask as I like canned Coke over fountain Coke.

Are the upgraded steaks included at Chops?

Are milkshakes from JR included?

I understand the Genie suggests an arrival time. We always like to arrive at around 10:30. We still want to arrive early, but maybe not that early. Can we suggest our arrival time to our Genie? In not sure if being in the RLS helps in this matter.

What do we do with our luggage? Do we take it into the suite area checkin or is there another area to drop it at? I do know that we are not to drop it with "everybody's" luggage with the porters.

One last question, since you have sailed Star Class do you have any tips from your experiences? We have been on Allure numerous times so priority seating for shows really isn't a big deal to us but if you have any hacks it would be good to know.

Hi Andrew,

I'll try to answer as many as I can....

All laundry was included. You give it to your cabin attendant and let him know how quickly you want it back. Laundry and dry cleaning - no charge.

I don't drink canned anything but we did have our mini fridge stocked with various canned sodas and red bull for guests and Matthew. Never requested a can at any bar as I was enjoying the occasional cocktail. If bars have canned soda I can't imaging why it would not be included.

Upgraded steaks at Chops - yes.

Milkshakes at JR - yes.

The Genie is going to suggest an arrival time that he knows your suite will be ready at because you go from arrival to suite within 15 minutes if not faster. Ours was 11:30 if I recall.

You take your luggage with you to the suites entrance door and as soon as they realize you are Star Class a porter will take your luggage and stay with you through the process and bring it directly and immediately to your suite.

When you arrive at the suites entrance door and identify yourself they will immediately call your Genie who will then take you to the front of the line to go through security with your luggage, then take you to a special desk to check in, and then immediately onto the shop and to your suite.

Any extra tips??... Star Class includes all beverages from Starbucks. There was some confusion in the speciality restaurants regarding bottled water. Other than the occasional cocktail I only drink bottled water... But for some reason whenever ordering bottled water in a couple of the restaurants I was told it was "extra" even though we were Star class. Rather than argue I just agreed and then mentioned it to our Genie who had the charges immediately removed.

Your Genie really is the key to getting the best out of the experience. Just ask him that same question and he will let you know all of the special perks he can arrange for you.

I know you are a flowrider fan and you do have special access to it... You're paying for it - why not enjoy it.

I hope you have a blast.

We've rebooked the Sky Loft again For next year. I can't wait.

Does anyone know. If the special ice cream at scoops is included.

I know someone posted they got charged for it and the genie got it removed. Or is the genie just paying for it out of their pocket. So you're happy and tip

DH, DS, and myself are in a regular balcony, but we are traveling with my parents who are in a Star Class suite, our reservations are linked. Do you know if we would be allowed to board with them? Obviously we wouldn't have the same perks otherwise, but it would be nice to at least get on the ship with our party!

We are in star class on the harmony next year with 2 linked reservations staying in balconies.. I'm curious to hear how this works also.

My husband and I are Diamond and have had friends/family, a couple of times, be able to board with us. Since your parents are in a suite, I would imagine it would be allowed with no questions asked. Have a great time.

I did read that if a guest in the cabin is under 21 they get Royal Replenish drink package. In our case that's what our 9 year old DS is getting. Lisa and I will both get a UBP.

We went with my folks (they were star class) and reservation linked but did not board with them (didn't ask and we weren't offered). I'm sure you could ask but you are starting right off the bat with a request from the genie to extend a privlege to someone who isn't entitled. Not how I would begin the relationship with a genie. Just my opinion but I'd probably establish a relationship before asking for extra stuff for your friends. They will probably extend an invite or two to your friends if you build a good relationship with them.

Ron, thanks for all your answers. Some of them I guessed as you answered and others I didn't know.

The one thing I will request of the Genie is to book the flowrider for the first night of the cruise and during the day in San Juan. The rest of the time I will wait in line with the rest. When you flow, you ride with everyone.

We have 1724 SLS booked on Harmony for three more sailings so hopefully the Star Class is worth it. No matter what, I still love the cabin. Knowing us, we will get along with the Genie perfectly.

Edit: I'd never pay for the upgraded steak, but since it's "free";) I am going to order it.:D

Just curious which ship you did the starclass ship on, Bob? Maybe we sailed with you or saw you in coastal.

We enjoyed Coastal Kitchen on Oasis last September, but we were not in a Star Class suite, just a JS.

I really don't want to abuse the system, I guess I just thought boarding was a very small thing to ask, especially since we're planning to coordinate our arrival. My DH and I are diamond anyway, so boarding with C&A won't be the worst thing in the world if that's what we have to do. As long as we are pleasant, I don't think asking innocent questions should be a problem (with the genie), just as long as we're OK with hearing "no". ;)

I'm just passing on my experience. It maybe isn't a small thing to ask. You are personally escorted through it all as star class. Btw, there is no more benefit to being diamond for getting on. You are grouped with all C&A but gold. Pretty stupid since so many are in between gold and diamond.

The genie will probably extend you some nice perks during the cruise but if they think you are trying to just get things you aren't supposed to they may take a different view and not extend you some nice things. Hard to say so I was just trying to help you in the long run. My folks tipped early and well and we were treated well by their genie too. Never asked, she just did it in her own b/c she knew it made my mom happy.

Andrew, we just got off the Allure. I think you had said in your last review that you had Jesus as your suite attendant? We had him for both our CLS and he was great. Probably one of the best we have ever had.

Enjoy your next cruise and the Star Class. I hope you do another review.

We have had Jesus for two cruises. He is indeed one of the best that we have encountered in our cruise history, and we have met many great stewards along the way. Hopefully we will have him in August.

As for a live thread, yes is the answer.:) I have been thinking about possible thread names already. I can't wait to go "live" in 49 days.

So I have a question regarding the tips... I know Star Class says it has pre-paid gratuities - who all does that include?

What is the amount suggested to tip Royal Genie?

In the Ultimate Beverage Package with our suites does that include tips for drinks?

Also has anyone had a trip linked with other Star Class Cruisers? Trying to find out if we have a linked trip if they will give us the same Royal Genie...

The included tips cover your stateroom attendant and helpers, and your dining staff. The beverage package includes tips on all the drinks.

The funny thing is the Star Class Cabins are the same price that we typically paid for before the program started. You could kind of say the steak is now free.;)

Have to say Chops on Allure was my least favorite Chops. And I usually love Chops. Would have eaten at Gio's more. But yes, upgraded steaks included.

As for cans. You can get as many cans of Coke as you want in the cabin. But you will have issues at the bars when it comes to soda. Seems like only soda gun as that is the norm for UBP.

I actually think Ron managed to get the large glass bottles of water taken care of when out of the cabin because we had a great relationship with our Genie. Everything I have read since says the larger bottles are not included.

As for arrival time. They seem to want people between 11 and 1. Because they are bringing you straight to the cabin, they have to allow time for the cabins to get made up. I just said we wanted 11:30, and it worked out.

I'm so excited that I stumbled across this info! Thank you for being so detailed, I'm trying to read everything possible about all of this. We are getting married on a September 2017 Harmony sailing and are staying in 1724! We will be having about 40-60 of our closest family and friends joining us for the week. Getting excited!
