WeddNcruise Posted August 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I've read how much people rave about the steakhouse but is it worth the $35 per person since I don't do meat? I do eat seafood. So would it be worth it? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sixtytwo Posted August 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Agreed! Since you do not eat meat, save your money.
TheTravelista Posted August 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2016 If you eat seafood I say yes. The crab cakes, lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail, escargot, lobster ravioli, lobster tail, and sea bass are amongst my favorite items on the menu. joeyancho Posted August 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Took my vegetarian daughter to the steak house on the Miracle. They said they would prepare something special for her. She said it was an unremarkable meal. The Indian in the MDR was much better. So if you are vegetarian skip it. If you are pescatarian it will be good. I do eat seafood. So would it be worth it? I am a pescatarian (no meat, seafood yes). I thoroughly enjoyed my meal in the steakhouse. This was what I ate: Starters - grilled portobello mushroom & crab cakes Salad - classic caesar Sides - all of them (shared with my friend) - they are all veggie based (broccoli, potatoes, mushrooms, creamed spinach) Entree - broiled lobster and shared the lobster ravioli Dessert - chocolate sampler (and when they learned I was allergic to walnuts the chef prepared a special cup for me without any (there are 4 cups) Was it worth the $35 - YES it was. :) We ate like queens and loved every bite! :p Here's a link to the menu: https://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/explore/dining/menus/steakhouse-menu.pdf Edited August 19, 2016 by tea4ular

I'm a pescatarian. I've seen a lot of those items or ones very similar on the MDR menus as well. So does the food taste a whole lot better at the steakhouse? Or is it the ambiance or service that makes the difference? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dameanwhite Posted August 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I have just a general question on the steakhouse. Is that $35 per entrée, or period? Say I wanted the cowboy steak, but also wanted the lobster tail? Wound it be just the $35 or $70?
berrieh Posted August 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2016 If you were a vegetarian, I'd say it wasn't "worth it" for you (though they have an option or two since there might be s party that includes a vegetarian). But there's really good seafood in the menu. The market fish is excellent. And there are other choices. I favor seafood and have gotten the seafood dishes over the meat before. Also, for the person who asked, you can only get one meal. They're large portions, though, and all told, it's a lot of food. Same. I'm a pescatarian. Better food quality, presentation, ambiance, and service. It's a bigger difference in some dishes than others but especially proteins (meat and fish). If you want more than one entrée additional charges occur but I don't now how much . If my memory serves me right, I'll never turn back time. funinthesun1964 Posted August 19, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 19, 2016 DH always wanted to go to the steakhouse while cruising, and I did not want to go because I do not like steak. A few years back we decided to go and I had the lobster ravioli, and I loved it. It is a nice dinner, and felt like it was a special meal for us. We did it once on our own and once with friends. We are planning again for it on our next cruise on the Splendor.
Port of Tampa Posted August 19, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Hmm tuff call. My wife is also a pescetarian and enjoys the options, service and ambiance of the steakhouse. If you book first night you get a free bottle of wine or $50 off a bottle of your choice. If you gamble enough the casino will comp your meal...that is how we have done it several times. Cheers and enjoy the cruise.

Florings Posted August 19, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Lobster ravioli, Maine lobster tails, or grilled filet of fish of the day for entrees. For starters, escargot, Portobello mushrooms, ahi tuna tartare, shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, crab cake. Nice salads, lovely desserts, yummy side dishes. I would say YES to going and it will be worth $35 per person. One selection per course is included in the $35, though you can order whatever you want...but expect to pay for it. fabby50 Posted August 19, 2016 #19 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I'm a vegetarian but my husband is not. He loves the filet. I enjoy the steakhouse. I make note that one of us is a vegetarian when I make the reservations and remind them when the hostess is seating us. On our last cruise with a steakhouse (on the Miracle) the chef came out and asked me what I liked to eat. We went twice and he made me two fabulous meals - more food than I could possibly eat. It was a very nice experience and my husband loved his beef. I enjoy the atmosphere, the service and the food was great. We are on the Miracle again in February for Valentine's and I've already made reservations to eat there three times during the week. I also think it would have something to do with what chef you have, so I'm not saying my experience was typical.

wytyger1 Posted August 19, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I'm not a steak eater but I really enjoyed my meals at David's Steakhouse on the Pride. We booked it twice on one cruise. They took good care of us and made sure everything was to our liking. That said, we haven't eaten at a steakhouse on a ship since that cruise which was our very first and we wanted to experience everything. We're pretty happy with the main dining room. LRY229 Posted August 19, 2016 #22 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I would say try it once, you are the only one who can determine if its worth it. I do eat steak, but always order the sea bass in the steakhouse. It is wonderful.
