Second that as well.

Personally I find the Indian food some of the better stuff in Windjammer.

Not sure, but I think most to the chefs tend to come from India. So it might be a case of taking pride in their home country food.

Then again, I find most of the other food in WJ bland at times. Same old, same old stuff.

AGREE !!!! Also agree that the food in the WJ is generally bland.

I started to include the staffs' ethnicity this in my comments, but decided not to go into the composition of the culinary staff.

Nonetheless, food selection in the WJ is very limited. Consequently, we dined in the main dining room whenever possible.

Don't forget they offer off menu Indian dishes (both a vegetarian and non-vegetarian) in the MDR as well.

Just mention it the first night and get it as a plate to share.

With few food selections in the Windjammer due to the limited number of food bars/islands, it was curious that one island was taken up with Indian food and the cruise director only reported 12 passengers from India on the cruise and 2,354 from the USA. Seems as if they could make better us of their limited service islands to better accommodate the clientele.

I like a good curry. So does pretty much every English person I've ever met. Indian cuisine is an easy way to meet the expectations of vegetarians, people keeping kosher or halal, or just wants something they can't get at Cracker Barrel.

We love Indian food and it does give those that need a vegetarian diet, an easy way to do it. It actually should be on the MDR menu more...IMO.

It used to be every night..is it not anymore?

They removed all the Indian entrees a while back, when they went to the current menus.

However, if you ask the waiter or head waiter, you can usually get them to serve a couple of Indian entrees each evening, one vegetarian. Not much choice, but what they have is very good.

OK I was on the same cruise as the OP...

First I must say that I planned this trip as a recovery from rotator cuff sx with shaving of the bones,, enter the ship all bandaged up and sling too.

I am a diamond plus and did upgrade my internet for a few dollars, it was fast and good for being out in the blue seas

I did not notice any smells and being a nurse I always notice things,

The windjammer wasn't that bad, ate most meals there due to my immobility.

Staff members were always assisting everyone; saw people taking advantage of them like saying 'get me a straw, return oh get me some butter and this went on and on

I did tip my guy in the winjammer cause everytime he saw us he knew whay we like, DH milk with his meal..coffee after dinner..very nice guy and new to crusing..

They had made to order meals every night such as stir fry, pasta and etc

The soda machine was pretty cool but on deck 12...so many to choice from

Did have one problem no fridge in the room, needed it for medication and did find me one but it didn't work, got me another from staff member and it was fine.

Everyone was nice and pleasant...did notice guest taking things out of the boxes on the table and putting them in their bags,

If you buy liquoir you have to pick it up yourself on the last day at 7am..but the guy did give mine at 10;45 pm and gave him something for it.

My steward was good...brought me 4x pillows and ice 2x day she too got something extra

The casino was small but they give you paper payouts..

The bar tender made me an ice bag out of a blue glove cause I was in pain..let me have any drinks with mt diamond status..he too got something extra...

Now the only rude was I encounter were a few guest...but I handle them just fine

One very very fluffy lady asked me how do you bath like that....told her my hubby soaps me down in the shallow section of the pool and wash it off in the hot tub we are now sitting in....but I asked her and how do you bath ???

As Bob/clarea has stated, just ask.....we had tablemates recently who did not eat much meat, so the chef whipped up interesting things each night for our table to share.....yummy! We happen to like Indian food, and the unique things we had were just that, not on a typical restaurant menu....and very good.

Thank you for this review! We are sailing her soon and I have to say I've been pleased so far with my communication with the staff at HQ.

For my husband's mango allergy, I emailed and this is the response I got today.

Thank you for contacting us with this information.

We have received your notice regarding your food needs and will forward the information to the ship. By speaking with your head waiter in the dining room your needs will be communicated to the galley and an open line of communication will be established among everyone concerned.

Once on board please meet with one of the Restaurant Managers to review the menus and identify those items that need to be modified or avoided. They will be happy to assist you and will forward your concerns and needs to the galley. All items prepared for guests with food allergies are handled separate from the main food production. Please note that if you choose to go into the other restaurants other than the Main Dining Room please meet with the Manager for that particular restaurant to go over the food items with you regarding your food allergies before eating. Guests are allowed to bring on their own supply of dry, nonperishable food items such as cookies, crackers, chips, energy bars, etc. They may also bring on their own individual packets of salad dressings. Guests may not bring on board any potentially hazardous food items. (Items that require refrigeration, freezing, reheating, or storage by the galley).

It is also recommended that they refrain from eating in the buffet areas, as they are self serve and can not guarantee it will be free of cross contamination.

Off the Majesty on the 16th and the crew was amazing!!! Lots of sewer smells in our hallway, we were in cabin 9308. We had a great cabin Stewart, and we tipped him extra as soon as we saw him and request ice every day and we did receive it.

We went to the dining room on night one and night three and had food that was terrible and did not eat it. Our servers were amazing and tried their best to make us happy and offered other food, but nothing served at our table of 6 was appealing or very good. Two persons actually sent their food back, we just left.

BEWARE: there is a Galley Buffet special they are selling and it sounds great, $35.00 p/p and it is a tour of the galley and a buffet. It was on Thursday at 11:30, I believe it was approx 60 persons and we were divided into 3 groups.

We had champagne or mimosa's as we entered the dining room and were divided into groups. We were told there would be 3 groups and we would pass by the appetizers and deserts before we do the galley tour. Twenty persons on this tour is too many persons and the people at the back could not see or hear what was being described. After the tour we were seated at tables and then allowed to help ourselves to the appetizers. So, we were in group 3 and of course the appetizers were quite picked over, but we made the best of it.

Then we waited while we saw the others being served the meal. After a bit of a wait a server brought our table a menu and we all ordered our meals. UGH!!! The food was terrible and almost no one ate any of it. By now some of the others were actually leaving the dining room as they had already been served and had their desert. Our table looked around and saw there were staff breaking down the desert and appetizer tables. We got up on our own to get our desert but the trays were so picked over there was really nothing left to eat.

Some of the group asked the crew doing the breakdown where the servers were and what about their deserts???? One of the breakdown crew said they thought everyone had been served, well, no there was still the table next to us that had not been served either. We chose to leave, this is just to let you know that this is not worked out to well yet in case you choose to pay this additional fee.

We ate DINNER at Johnny Rockets 2 nights so we would have edible food. The crew on this ship is fantastic, but unfortunately that cannot make up for nothing to do other than some trivia in the Schooner Lounge and not such good food.

By the way, we are Diamond, so we were able to enjoy the VCL, but the good section of it is now roped off for Diamond and above. We have always enjoyed sitting up there and now feel sorry that even that small nice location has been taken away from the general customer.

Nope, we will not be back on the Majesty, but again, this ship has one of the best crews we have sailed with.

You are so welcome :)

Honestly did not recall seeing mangos in the Windjammer, or I would of gotten some....fruit bowl was melons, apples dont recall seeing bananas either

Enjoy your cruise....

Thank you! Mango is used in a lot of sauces and chutneys, and is a very cheap sweetener, so in a lot of things you would not expect.

He doesn't have a anaphylactic reaction, he has itching, swelling and digestive problems if he has any, so we're trying to avoid that.

Was on Majesty 8/29 and the table next to us always had Indian dishes so we mentioned something about it on the last night to our head waiter and after a few minutes he brought out 2 plates of Indian food for us to share. It was DELICIOUS! Now that I know I can order that I will be doing it again when we go in October! :p

Our cabin didn't smell but parts of the hallway were bad. We attributed the smell to the many sour smelling sneakers put out in the hall. I guess they stunk so bad they owners or the owners roommates wanted them out of the room. Did you see any shoes in the hallway?

Awesome!! my sister and I are going to be on the same one as you!! I'm so used to sailing the bigger ships - I think I'm really going to enjoy the smaller ship and less people! Hope you have a great time!! heading out 9/30!!!
