Just off Caribbean Princess Questions?

Boarding times are a suggestion.

Just got an email for our Feb 19 cruise on Caribbean Princess where it lists the boarding times for each deck. I have boarded in Port Everglades a number of times...arriving usually between 1030 and 11 and on board usually by around

1145 to 1230. The lines are orderly and begin moving well once the doors are opened to check in area. We have sat around 20-40 minutes in a waiting area and then boarded. So it is not a rule to follow the suggested boarding times, it is not a free for all and it is not a bad experience. I have heard though, if you show up around 2 or 230 you can usually about walk onto the ship...decide what is best for your arrival and prepare to wait if early...

It's probably more convenient as far as wait time but you'd have missed the dining room lunch if that's important to you plus you'll barely make it to your room & it'll be time for muster.

There's no time to even think about unpacking before dinner, that's if your bags have arrived.

Did Princess charge your credit card each day, or did you only get one charge at the end of the cruise. We have always seen only one charge, but several posters on this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2453537 indicated they were being charged daily. I wonder if this is fleet wide or not?

For anyone who has been on the ship recently and spent time in the Casino, what are some of the popular slot machines? Any of the newer ones? Wonder if they will change the slot machines during drydock? Any other info re the Casino would be appreciated.

I am afraid i cant remember the names but for us this was the best casino on the Princess Ships. Lots of table games, including a craps table (last ship didnt have one). As for slots, a lot of the usual ones, plus some newer 1cent machines, that actually cost $'s not cents - fire and rain was one i think (i should know i was addicted).

Also a post a couple of weeks ago had asked about payouts, this was the biggest paying out casino i had ever seen. The machine above was paying out hundreds each time someone sat down, i saw a woman scoop 4.5k on the 2nd day, and a friend of ours won 3 separate jackpot bonuses of a $1000 on a 25cent machine.

Do the washers/dryers require quarters or are you able to use the plastic cabin key to access tokens?

You use your card to get a plastic coin for both washers and dryers, and also washing powder if you need it. I believe for 1 wash, 1 spin dry, some washing powder, and those sheets for the dryer it cost us a total of $9.

Thanks so much--exactly what I need to know--can't wait to be Elite so I don't have to bother with the wash!

Did they have the crab pot? What days? I will be traveling on the 25th and can't wait. This was my favorite meal when I was on the Grand. Also any suggestions for excursions with small kids (under10)in Bonaire? My sister is bringing her Grandchildren.

Crab Shack was on one night, the night of Aruba (this was a late night port, and our first port of call).

No advice for kids in Bonaire, all i can say is, the snorkeling was very good. We hired a golf cart and drove around the island stopping where we wanted.

We also dined at the Crab Pot one night on on of our three cruises. I have a food allergy and they did a fantastic job trying to accommodate it. The staff were all very attentive as well, However, we didn't think it was worth the money (our personal opinion) and would not choose this venue again.

We snorkeled in Bonaire with a private company. It was the best place ever to snorkel in our years of doing this sport. So good, we plan on going again next winter! The company is named after the category of instrument that a flute and clarinet would fall under. I highly recommend them.

Is there a public notice board on the Caribbean Princess where one is able to leave general messages?

Not that I've ever seen.

It's to bad the Medallions aren't in use yet. It would be the perfect opportunity to use it.

Thank you, I had assumed that Princess was like NCL who don't have one either and wanted to check. Will just have to be cheeky!!
