Breakaway...Converting the Queen bed?

We booked a "family balcony" for my two brothers. Obviously they do not want to sleep together in that queen bed. They say they can convert them into 2 twin beds but for the life of me I cannot see how that is possible. There is no room on the sides to do that. The bed butts up against the two small side tables at each end. How can they convert this? Thanks in advance!

Only one table needs to move making one bed able to walk on both sides.

The other bed is moved abutting to the wall and has only one accessible side!

The bedding is stripped and twin bedding is substituted - most cabin stewards

can do this in less than 5 minutes. The beds in the queen mode are kept

together with the bottom fitted sheet snuggly holding the 2 twin bed frames.

Usually one or both of the bed stand tables may have a night light feature and

perhaps the cabin phone.

As previous posted if the names are MR. & MRS. the beds are made up as a

queen set - when the names are different it is expected that they would be

separated - however this does not happen all the time. Thus when you get

to your cabin the first time make note to the cabin steward to have it changed

during the turn-down service (usually between 8 & 9 pm) and the bedding will

be changed - need it right away for crash and snooze look out into the passageway

for any cabin steward and it can be done as noted in less than 5 minutes.

Alternate the cabin steward may leave his card and phone number to call for

any assistance and lastly call Housekeeping if necessary !

If you have more than 2 cruisers in a cabin the extra bedding required* is made

up at the turn-down time unless otherwise negotiated with the cabin steward.

This gives more room during the day use of the cabin.

* Extra bedding - i.e. bunk beds folding out of the ceiling/wall - convertible

couch - murphy bed unfolding out of a wall.

And as noted previously posted the King bed in suites can not be separated !

Awesome answers..........thanks to both of you. I must say, it appears that they tried to fit as many cabins as possible on this ship. Halls and balconies are very narrow and cabins are somewhat smaller than other ships it seems. It's not going to affect our time for I love cruising....I could sleep in the bathroom if I had to. LOL :D

we are a male/female couple, different names, but our bed has always been made up as a queen upon entry to the room. im guessing they look at our ages and assume correctly that we are a couple.

it will be interesting to see what assumption is made when i travel with my mom next year. same last name, both female, 32 year age difference. but i know if its one bed, as others said, easily fixed in a matter of minutes.

i woudl think 2 males, same last name, close in age they woudl assume brothers and have the beds already split.

There is no formula based on age, gender, last name, etc. Unless told otherwise, the bed will be left however the last guest had it. As noted, they will adjust when needed but it is too much work to guess based on names. Bill and John Smith could be brothers or could be a married couple. The stewards have no idea so why guess?

Now now....it could be a male/male couple who took just 1 name.
