Rare MMDown Under Posted June 24, 2017 #106 Share Posted June 24, 2017 Heres a blog updateThey had to turn back with a medical emergency. From winter escapes blog..... http://winterescape2017.blogspot.co.nz/ We arrived into Venice the day before our scheduled stop. This was due to a medical emergency on board which necessitated the Captain turning back to the closest land which was Corfu and required two hours of cruising. This was necessary so the helicopter could be sent out to airlift the patient to a hospital. This effectively put us a good 4 hours behind schedule but hopefully saved someone's life. The reports from the Captain have said the patient is stable. We arrived into Venice in the evening around 6.30pm. We will now have two nights and two full days to explore this beautiful city. Sad for the passenger with the medical emergency but how wonderful for the other passengers to have two full days in Venice, such a special port. Tranquility Base Posted June 29, 2017 #118 Share Posted June 29, 2017 In Santa Margherita an hour by train out of Genoa. Took the ferry to Portofino and then did the lovely seaside walk back to SM. Weather very pleasant here. We are now overnighting here in Genoa due weather towards Monaco. This will enable a good look around Genoa tomorrow, so happy with that. Will bypass Monaco and head to Barcelona on schedule. All good onboard.
