Galleon1234 Posted July 15, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 15, 2017 We will be in an OV cabin. Did you feel like the storage was well designed? Do the closets have shelves. Lots of drawers? We will be on it for several weeks and want to be prepared:)! Heard they do not have refrigerators in the room:(.

Rare little britain Posted July 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I've been on Vision twice this year. I was sceptical. Pros: capt Marek, and the amazing Solarium food set up Cons: I can't think of anything Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Brit-Cruiser Posted July 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2017 We have sailed the Vision twice and it is one of our favourite ships. We had ample storage for the 2 of us (we don't travel light), but no fridge. We really like the service & food on the Vision in the MDR. Probably the best we have had. Chops was awesome. Giovanni's service and food, not so good. We found Capt Marek to be a pain in the backside. We didn't care for him at all. The major annoyance was him doing birthday announcements at 7.30am. It was audible through the door from the speakers in the hallway & woke us every day.

modem9 Posted July 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2017 We have sailed on Vision 3 times. I like that ship and the class as a whole. However, they are getting older and no matter how well they maintain them, it shows some. I like the ability to walk end to end quickly such as from Main Dining to Theater. We don't miss the specialist restaurants. I don't care for the Vision Windjammer as much. It has a food area in the middle of the seating, up 2 steps (or ramp) which seems to get in the way. They use this for desserts and other side dishes. The rooms were nice and had plenty of storage. I don't know if the Vision still uses the centrum for shows. If they do, I would avoid any rooms near the centrum as the noise go on well into the evening. If they don't do those acrobatic shows, then I like the new ocean view rooms near the centrum. We are sailing on the Rhapsody (sister ship) later this year. I will be curious to see if it is modeled after the Vision or the Legend. They had different Windjammer setup's. I am confused by your comment that you don't miss the "specialist" restaurants. Looking at the deck plans for the Vision, the ship has a Chef's Table area on Deck 4, Chops and Giovanni's Table on Deck 6 near the Schooner Bar and Izumi on Deck 12. We are looking forward to sailing the Vision in January 2018 as we enjoyed our cruises on the Rhapsody so much. I prefer the smaller ships. kkorman Posted July 16, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2017 I was on the Vision a few months ago. Just wasn't a fan. Service was fine... food below average. Entertainment meh. Looks and feels old. Some people love it though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DfDinLA Posted July 16, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 16, 2017 I had a favorable experience aboard the Vision. Yes, the Windjammer food is pretty average, but I feel that way about most cafeterias. My biggest gripe was a lack of a late night dining option other than room service. It would have been nice to get a cooked to order burger or freshly made pizza or a carved roast beef sandwich while listening to some music in the lounges around midnight. Jimbo Posted July 16, 2017 #16 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Older smaller ship, good for some. Others don't care for it. We only went on it for it's itinerary. Jimbo:)
kbklcamp Posted July 16, 2017 #17 Share Posted July 16, 2017 We sailed the Vision last November in the Med. Really enjoyed it. Our room was close to the Centrum and it was great having easy access to the Centrum and elevators. The entertainment was fine, as was the food. The staff was so friendly and energetic. The solarium was beautifully decorated and the cage within it was very convenient and became our go to for lunch and all snacks. It's a really great ship. malaprops Posted July 16, 2017 #20 Share Posted July 16, 2017 We just got off the Vision last month and we ended up loving it. I'll add that Vision is pretty much the largest cruise ship I've ever been on, so I literally have no experience with newer, larger ships for comparison. That said, the size of the ship was great--it's super easy to get around from place to place. We had one of the new floor to ceiling window cabins on deck 8 and even though it was two steps from the Centrum, we didn't have any noise issues and they did Centrum stuff well past midnight. The storage in the room was plenty for us--two big closets (each had two pull out rails with hangers and a shelf in the middle), a cabinet with three or four shelves on the left end of the desk, and then six drawers under the desk. Our suitcases fit under the bed, so they were out of the way. The food was good to ok; we didn't try any specialty restaurants. The Park Cafe was probably my favorite dining option, mostly because it was open late and they had a good mix of simple foods and desserts. The crew and Captain Marek were super nice--they put on several crew based talent shows in the Centrum, which was interesting! Headliner shows were not my favorite--mime, ventriloquist, magician, etc. But seriously...a mime.

Just read this posting and it did make me chuckle quite loudly, probably not as loud as a PA speaker next to your door at 7.30am !!! I suppose every Capt is different, some you rarely here from or see. A P&O Capt a couple of years ago used to do Thought for today. Which we used to look forward to. Mark-Sheffield Posted July 16, 2017 #22 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Like many we picked this cruise because of the itinerary not the ship. So we are looking forward to exploring a new ship for us. grapau27 Posted July 16, 2017 #23 Share Posted July 16, 2017 We will be sailing on the Vision in 2018. We have cruised other larger RCCL ships, but have never cruised on the Vision. Would love to know your pros and cons of the Vision. Thanks! We were in a lovely JS 8038 on Vision in February sailing 7 nights out of Dubai. The Diamond lounge host was brilliant,we also loved the Schooner bar which was a short walk from the DL on deck 6 and next to Giovanni table and chops grill. For a short cruise like this (7 nights) it was perfect but for a longer cruise the facilities were a little limited compared to the bigger RC ships. Sent from my SM-G925F using Forums mobile app He went on.... and on....and on. His morning announcements lasted for about 15 minutes, by the time he had finished reading his never ending birthdays list. The guy drove us nuts, to the point if we found out he was the Capt of a ship we were looking to book, we would find another ship. Apart from him, we LOVE this ship.
