Princess Alaska cruise question

Hello, I have never cruised with a princess before, going on my first one next summer. Going to Alaska and had a question about the dress code in the main dining room. Do you have to wear black shoes? Is it a strict dress code or more relaxed?

Thanks

Hi, I just returned from my first cruise with Princess to Alaska Jul 9-16. Dress code was relaxed. Even on formal nights; not a lot of jackets or ties. Most people wore regular shirts and slacks. Shoes were black/brown/sneakers

This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you so so much. I just came back 3 weeks ago on my first alaska cruise with Norwegian. The dress code was the same, relaxed. And not a lot of people dressed up for formal night

I have been on 3 Princess cruises to Alaska. The dress is much more casual then other locations. As long as you show up at the MDR neat and clean and not wearing flip flops you are ok. No one checks to see if you have close toed shoes.

The Princess dress code is the same for all itineraries it does not change for Alaska.

As already mentioned, the attire on Alaskan cruises is more relaxed than other aprincess cruises. My husband has worn open-toed shoes in the MDR (sandals) without a problem, though flip-flops are not ok. There is no required shoe color either, even on formal nights.

On non-formal nights my husband might where nice shorts (usually to the knee) and a button-down shirt without a tie and he looks as nice as most others in the MDR. Formal nights he will break out the suit and tie though!

Some years ago, a lady from our neck of the woods packed several pairs of 'flip flops', of different colours on her B2B Alaska cruise.

On the entire cruise she wore a different colour on each foot, excepting formal nights when she wore black on both feet!!!

Hope this helps.:)

Your Maitre D' may have been lenient. In our last sailing, one guest in a nice short wearing boat shoes was politely requested to change to long pants.

I'm kind of sad to hear this since I rented a tux for DH.:( My daughter just got married a month ago and I am wearing my mother of the bride dress.

Don't be too sad. If you were on the cruise we were on (Jul. 27-Aug. 6), you would not be the only ones in a tux. I think it varies from one sailing to the next.

No reason to be sad. Enjoy wearing those items on your cruise and enjoy your cruise.
