Rare rafinmd Posted September 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2017 I watched Explorer OTS arrive yesterday (nice weather on a Sunday, of course). Still dark in Juneau (520am) but there appear to be raindrops reflections in the camera. NA passing behind Sitka/Kake with Eurodam a bit behind. Rare rafinmd Posted September 4, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Rendezvous between St. Phillip and NA right about now; Eurodam on the verge of taking the lead. Still HAL 2017 Juneau weather. It was nice when I was on Statendam 2014 so hope 2018 will do as well. Roy

AV8rix Posted September 4, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Howcum it's taken me this long to discover that there is a sailaway (or sail-in) thread for Juneau as well as Ft Lauderdale?
Happily@Sea Posted September 4, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 4, 2017 That wind is really howling today. So it's rain and wind. :(
Rare rafinmd Posted September 4, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 4, 2017 I guess we kind of know what we think is coming and go on a sort of auto pilot. Maybe we also think about sailaway and not sail-in. Roy

AV8rix Posted September 4, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Hmm, these new docks in Juneau this year have me slightly disoriented. In previous years we've always docked right in front of the library. But I actually skipped Alaska this year, so haven't experienced the new docks personally. And of course not everyone can stay on board that long.

Rare rafinmd Posted September 4, 2017 #25 Share Posted September 4, 2017 A number of people on my Grand Asia roll call are sailing the Maasdam to Sydney, spending some time in Australia and then taking the Amsterdam back to the US. Roy
