Husky1987 Posted September 18, 2017 #26 Share Posted September 18, 2017 Geez, it was a legitimate question. Whenever we travel or even dine out for an anniversary or significant birthday, we always let the restaurant, hotel, airline, etc., know. We've almost always received some little (or big) gesture of the occasion - upgraded room, a bottle of champagne, etc. We were even upgraded to first class on a flight to Miami for our honeymoon/first cruise back in the day. All these gestures are simply good business as they tend to generate brand loyalty. It never hurts to ask, even if it isn't a common occurrence on a cruise ship. Lighten up. Anyone who fully intend(s) on playing the honeymoon 'game' and milking it :D by getting the Tshirts and using social media before hand to make sure they are aware. is no doubt knowingly making themselves ripe for some ribbing. To the OP, hope you have a fantastic honeymoon.
JandRtravel Posted September 18, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 18, 2017 We spent our honeymoon on a 2 week cruise and didn't receive anything, we were engaged on another cruise and didn't get anything, we announced our pregnancy on our last and didn't get anything , and on our last my grandparents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Go in with low expectations. They will do something nice at the restaurant if you tell hostess you're celebrating, like a cake. Maybe a door banner. They have some social events geared towards honeymooners, so I would just look for those Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Super-Luke88 Posted September 18, 2017 Author #29 Share Posted September 18, 2017 What kind of cabin have you booked? The first half we are in a sea view balcony and then the second half we're in an inside room.
land lover Posted September 18, 2017 #30 Share Posted September 18, 2017 The first half we are in a sea view balcony and then the second half we're in an inside room. Being a first time cruiser might give you more of an edge than being a honeymooner. But hope springs eternal good luck and best wishes on our wedding and possible upgrade. MrsPete Posted September 19, 2017 #31 Share Posted September 19, 2017 Thank you for your contribution, however it doesnt really address the question I asked. No, it DOES answer the question. MANY cruisers are celebrating a special occasion: Honeymoon, babymoon, milestone anniversary, graduation, retirement. While I'm sure you'd argue that a honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime event, those other cruisers feel the same way about their special event ... and, realistically, you'll be one of a dozen or so honeymooners on your cruise. The cruise line cannot do something special for everyone who's celebrating something. Go in expecting nothing and be happy if you're surprised. nealstuber Posted September 19, 2017 #33 Share Posted September 19, 2017 On the Carnival board there is a wonderful post and video from a post Irma Bride and Groom.. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2544965 Obviously, special circumstances and all but it does raise a stark contrast to what's been presented on this thread. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app Well, if you watch the video of the impromptu wedding CCL put together for this bride and groom, I'd think you'd agree they hit it out of the park! kknorr0320 Posted September 19, 2017 #39 Share Posted September 19, 2017 I agree but given the circumstances I'm not sure you can use it for a real comparison. The ship was probably well under capacity and some of the crew probably had nothing better to do. People on here have mentioned room stewards with few or no rooms occupied. I'm not saying Carnival didn't do something great but acting like it's common is a little misleading. I agree that RC has a habit of upgrading newbies to entice them to "book UP" the next time. You will have a much greater chance of going to an outside from your interior than an upgrade from your balcony cabin.
Merion_Mom Posted September 19, 2017 #41 Share Posted September 19, 2017 First of all i just want to point out that i am not expecting anything because its my honeymoon, i'm just interested to know if it happens and what it involves. So, as you can probably guess i'm taking a cruise for my honeymoon and what just wondering if anyone else has taken thie honeymoon on Royal and received any upgrades or perk because of it? I fully intend on playing the honeymoon 'game' and milking it :D by getting the Tshirts and using social media before hand to make sure they are aware. No harm in trying hahaha By the way, I wouldn't wait until the morning of the 10th to drive down from Orlando. I would give up one night in Orlando, drive down to Fort Lauderdale, and spend a relaxing night in a hotel there. Much less stress on embarkation day. And please don't remove your auto-gratuities. Please??? :)
