Carnival Corporation Stock Holder

The stock keeps going up and there are also dividends paid.

A word of caution about the stock price: what goes up, can also go down. CCL is not immune to this financial fact.

The dividend can also be reduced, but it surely is not in a Company's interest to do so unless it is absolutely necessary. Currently, my no-expert financial opinion is that the dividend currently paid is safe.

I am considering purchasing Carnival's stock. Can it be applied to cruises which have special promotions, such as Princess's "3 for free" promotion, or Holland America's "view to veranda" promotion? Thanks for any information.

Can't speak to your question about Princess, but, I have never had an issue with having the CCL Shareholder's Credit applied to any HAL booking. Possibly, others may have had a different experience.

I'm not sure I ever booked with a Princess promotion, but have had no difficulty getting the credit applied on a Princess sailing.

I have booked under a variety of different HAL promotions and never had a problem getting my stockholder credit. Best investment I ever made!

Yes.

The fares that are iffy for the shareholder benefit are the Casino fares and fares for travel agents.

This is true for all cruise lines under the CCL umbrella.

The privilege of OBC is approved every year at the shareholder's meeting and has an expiry date each year. So, depending on the timing, you may have been requesting beyond the approved time line until the board approved again.

eg - if it is only approved until August, 2018 and your cruise is sailing in October, 2018, you need to wait until the next approval by the board. If I had sent my request in when I booked, I would have been in advance of the approved time frame.

Hopefully, this makes sense.

I was hoping that someone would point this out.

Our friends where told that they will receive two 100 OBC, one for each leg as they are under two booking numbers, even though the total is over 14 days. Pays to verify your specific situation.

This sounds like your friends bought stock just for this one cruise? It also sounds like a good excuse to cruise book another cruise. .

As a Canadian who has just purchased my 100 shares of Carnival Corp stock which is held within my TFSA, I have a couple of questions.

1. Does Carnival pay dividends directly into my TFSA?

2. Does Carnival offer DRIP rather than pay a cash dividend?

I have filled out my W-8BEN form so I should only have 15% US tax withheld rather than the 30%.

Thank you any information.

Yes to your question about DRIP. Not sure about what a TFSA is, however.

Good idea, but I'm pretty upfront so I will just send both booking numbers in my e and see what happens ;)

My understanding is it should be allowed (and with the difference in pricing it should be versus a collectors' cruise).

It won't take long to find out. ;)

We are just on for the first 14 days and got our $250 - if you are doing it as two 14-day cruises, shouldn't you get $250 x2?

Sorry about that - I only read two pages of this thread I guess and then posted - I didn't realize the thread was 5 pages long! Things have progressed from page 2..
