Disembarkation Question - early morning logistics

Since we arrive in NY at 6 AM, Hubby is headed straight to work from the terminal. Can we disembark separately? Specifically, we're wondering if he can do the unassisted disembarkation first thing in the morning, while I am assisted later in the morning (and sleep in a bit longer;p)

You can disembark separately. He can use walk-off disembarkation and you can use assisted.

You will then be going through US immigration and customs separately. If you have purchased anything, you will have to use your individual personal exemption for paying duty. You would not be able to combine them into a family exemption. If you purchase more than $800 subject to duty, then you would want to make sure he takes some of the items with him to avoid you paying duty on the entire amount (with only one personal exemption).

Also don't assume he will be able to disembark at the scheduled arrival time. It takes time for the ship to clear immigration and customs before they let anyone off the ship.

Don't forget that all passengers are asked to leave their cabins by 8:00am. So sleeping late isn't really going to happen.

The early walk off option will not start immediately upon ship's arrival. It may take some time for the ship to clear.

The ship arrives at 6 AM and first has to put out her lines which will take maybe 30 minutes or so and then has to be inspected by the US authorities before any pax are allowed to leave the ship so figure on 7:30ish before anyone can leave the ship. Also remember that they have priority debarking so you may not be among the first to leave as their will be several groups doing walkoff. Also as stated everyone has to be out of their cabin by 8 AM. The OP's plan has a few problems.

I don't know about ny, but in Ft. Lauderdale, the walker-offers have been starting 6:15 - 6:30

I suppose late is relative - as in - not waking up at 5:30AM. If I can sleep till 7:30 while he's on his merry way by 6:30, I'm happy:)

Sorry, disagree. Unless ship is delayed for some unexpected reason, it is there well before 6:00am and docked. Early walk-off's are scheduled shortly after 6:00am/7:00am, depending on arrival. IDK why it would be any different in NY than Port Everglades.

Also, sleeping in is relative. Husband is going to be up and gone before 6am to be ready to get off the ship. Wife getting more time could be sleeping in to her. The OP realizes she won't be sleeping in until 9 or 10.
