"Refundable Credit Balances" at end of cruise

We had a $600 OBC on our last cruise that we used to pay gratuities, several trips to specialty restaurants, tours, etc. Despite our best efforts to spend it all, we had a balance of $38.62 clearly marked as refundable on the bottom of our statement left the last day of the cruise. We received a check in the mail three weeks later. We did NOT purchase OBC nor are we Vets. We were given most of the OBC when the price of the cruise tanked and we fought for OBC rather than upgrading to a suite for $99/pp. Sounds like you'll be seeing a check. You didn't "blow it". We didn't have to do anything to get a refund. Good luck.

Still waiting slightly over 5 weeks since we left the Sun Princess for our refundable OBC. We were able to use the casino to get our non-refundable OBC. With four cruises in a row, we had a sizeable amount of OBC, both refundable and non-refundable. Any amount over $25 has to be refunded now by a check after the cruise. Hopefully the check will come soon, or we will be calling and nudging them.

1. A lot of OBC is refundable. It should be clearly marked as either non-refundable or refundable on your account statements.

2. I am pretty sure that my Shareholder's OBC is refundable. If not, it was used up first, and I never noticed that it had been non-refundable until after it was used up.

3. Even if your refund is a small amount, Princess should refund it. It just takes a little while. The "$25 or less" rule for the Purser's Office is to keep the ship from having to refund $100s of dollars in cash whilst disembarkation is taking place, which Princess would much rather pay by check, and to keep the lines at the Purser's Desk more manageable.

4. I am waiting for my OBC refund from two weeks ago. I am not yet worried! If I don't hear from Princess within eight weeks from disembarkation, I call the Captain's Club number to give them a gentle shove!

General Rule of Thumb: the only refundable OBC is OBC you purchased and Veteran's OBC and "courtesy OBC" that you receive from Princess.

On my last cruise I noticed that the OBC was refundable that I received from TA "crucon" . This was like OBCthat you get for booking through them. Was nice surprise because I thought would have to use it up with just buying stuff, but instead got a nice check back in the mail😀😀😀
