banzaii Posted November 22, 2017 #27 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Well...,For an update to this. I had a call from the foreign sales supervisor looking after me from P&O, she advised that in good faith they will be refunding the difference ($600). I have asked for it to be put on as OBC which she agreed to. :D:D:D:D:D Happy Chappy I am..:p Proves, you can only ask and sometimes you get the right answer. Sometimes the answer you get gives you your next tactic. Strange you had to ask them to do OBC.

The_Big_M Posted November 22, 2017 #29 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Wonderful, and now we will all expect the same treatment should it occur to us. Just tell them: "But you did it for Suitesrbest!"

Rare MicCanberra Posted November 22, 2017 #32 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Yes, they were going to refund to credit card but will be spending the money on board anyhoo. I think that the majority of people would want the money (that amount anyway) in their account rather than as OBC as it may likely be put as non-refundable OBC. In any case, if you will spend the money on board then it makes no difference as long as you actually get it..
bazzaw Posted December 3, 2017 #33 Share Posted December 3, 2017 There are two ways to book cruises - the expensive way and the cheap way. THE EXPENSIVE WAY, Book early to ensure you will be on your desired cruise, book a particular cabin on a particular ship going to a particular destination on a particular day. THE CHEAP WAY - Book very late (after final payment day) - book a "guarantee" cabin on any ship going anywhere at any time of the year. Neither of these two ways are completely satisfactory - but you have to do whatever is most important for you. BTW - it is now a long time since we had "fixed prices" for things in Australia - I would hate to have to go back to those days - I am personally very supportive of the cruiseline companies efforts to fill up their ships before sailing

Too late, closer to sailing, you may find you can only book a guarantee cabin and/or the price may increase, depending on last minute demand. I don't like GTY cabin anyway, you can end up with a dud, prefer to pick our own, early.:o

September 2016 happened nearly the same way. It was about a $100 difference (3 day short break) and called up, received a $50 OBC. Didn't think it was so rare!! Will be buying that lottery ticket !!!;p
