OBC for those NOT receiving OM on Regal Princess

Wow! Two pages and I have yet to see a post from someone asking:

 

"If I'm on one of these cruises, can I turn my ***** in and get the OBC instead?"

 

 

That was going to be my question. I am sailing in February. Have not heard anything specifically from Princess who onboard will receive *****, if it will indeed be ship wide by then, or still rolling out. If it is not functioning as it should,. I would much rather have an OBC than be part of the test group. ;)

That’s a great point and reason why I didn’t want to change my room location. It’s midship right on hump with angled balcony. Would love to see if anyone has tried this and what the response was.

If you call, and they can verify no medallion for your cabin, then you will likely get OBC. If you are told no, then either call back or ask to speak to the relations dept. They have the cabin info on their computer.If it's just not working right, but your cabin will have the medallion, then I believe you're out of luck.

We're on the Regal next month-January.

 

I called as suggested. Got zero.

 

I called back and got put through, after a lengthy wait, to a Medallion Specialist, who put me on a waiting list. :confused:

 

I would have preferred OBC.

 

We're in a mini-suite with an extended, angled balcony and don't want to give that up.

 

Full disclosure-I never outright asked for OBC.

Call them back and ask to be taken off wait list. Tell them you want the OBC. That’s what I did and we also have mini suite with angled balcony we were not willing to part with either.

Hi all, I started another thread with query re the Ocean Medallion. But all good and glad to hear many are having success.

 

My TA was refused on my behalf and suggested I call myself, so I did. Well now...first I got a sales rep. who wasn’t overly friendly but that’s ok, just wanted an answers. There were many uncomfortable pauses, at times I thought we were disconnected, but I was very polite and waited her out. She finally agreed to transfer me to Customer Relations. Night and day regarding the attitude of rep. I pleaded my case, was put into on hold couple of times, then finally she says because I used a TA I cannot request this. My TA must on my behalf, oh lord. I explained she had tried,

 

So, finally she says she will put in call or email to my TA. That’s where it stands. So expect this is going to take few days.

 

I am actually now very curious as how this will play out. The lack of consistency is not impressive. I might add I spent considerable time, chatting to reps and on hold. No 15 minute call. A little disappointing how this seems to be handled. I will definitely come back and let our Cc group know of my outcome. Fingers crossed.

Yes those doing this most recently would be helpful since I requested my OBC about a month ago- would be nice to see if others are still being successful in getting this. I do believe the OBC is based on what you paid for cruise if I am not mistaken. Let us know.

 

Yes, called yesterday, and received $200 obc!!

A very special thank you to Gatormomma. That extension did the trick.

 

The rep. started the same story about TA calling and I said been down this road already and would appreciate this be taken care of.

 

Pledged my loyalty to Princess 🙂, and after a small wait we are receiving our OBC. He sent info to our TA and she will be passing it along to us.

 

Very pleased with outcome. Now bring on our cruise.

wow, that's really great - how did all the cruise critic posters find out how this credit may be available???

 

 

 

I had read about it on our roll call initially and called my TA to ask about it and they processed it right away.

I booked through a big-box TA for our December 17 Regal cruise, called Princess directly and after some time on the phone, transferred to customer relations who added it to our account (seemed kind of grudgingly).

 

I really think that Princess should, at this point, have a policy that if people call disappointed about *****, they be given the OBC. How can they give some people, but not others?

I know 2 people who spoke directly with customer relations and were both told no recently. One even mentioned they knew people from CC who had gotten it since they are on here.

 

It's always worth the college try, just like anything else. You can't get anything if you don't ask.

I was told no 3 times. Finally with advice I called and asked for public relations, but the time I finished telling her what I wanted, she told me she added the obc to my account. Sure enough I looked, it was there. I thanked her, she apologized for the confusion.

You’ve got to ask for it!

 

My approach was to tell them about the email that I received. Tell them that I was SO looking forward to the many wonderful features and benefits of the ***** and that I specifically booked this cruise because of the *****. Since it’s no longer available to me, I asked for the OBC which, according to CC, many others have received. After 2 calls I got a “customer satisfaction” credit.

 

You have to be polite but firm.

I called yesterday and was told that on my Jan. 21 cruise only the forward cabins will have ***** capabilities and I could switch if a cabin was available. I was not interested in that, asked about the OBC and received it.

I just called my TA and told them other people are getting the obc, but Princess keep telling my TA they never offer any OBC for anyone. And I was asked to provide a booking number which have received OBC to verify. So I am gonna call they back myself. Can anyone please PM me their book number so I can make this process a bit easier. Just the number so I don't have access to their booking. Thx.

We received an email on Fridy telling us that our cabins on the Regal for our February sailing were not going to be ***** ready.

We booked thru a TA, but I did not want to bother her over the weekend.

 

 

In any case, I called Princess yesterday and asked to speak to Customer Relations. First person I spoke to made the standard speech that there would still be ***** technology on the ship that I would benefit from.

 

I told her that I had read the email, and that she was not telling me anything I did not already know.

 

I was put on hold (9 minutes) and then someone from CR came on the line. She seemed to start by reading from that same list of talking points.

 

I expressed disappointment,, and then let an awkward silence develop. ( A wonderful skill in difficult conversations BTW). I kept silent, and she offered us each $100 OBC....total $300!!

 

I checked; it is in personalizer.

 

So although I had booked with a TA, I did this myself in 20 minutes.

I called again and told them that we were really disappointed by not being able to use the ***** and that was the reason for booking that particular cruise (actually true). I also said we wouldn't give up our cabin since we booked one year ago!

 

They put me through to Customer Relations and gave us and our travel mates $100 each!! I was very impressed by the service and the speed at which it occurred.

 

The second customer service rep was very professional; the first a total rookie and just "hmmmed and hawwed" no empathy at all and could have cared less.

Never mind, my TA talked to CR, and I got 100pp. Good for the big box TA.

Just got off the phone, I was offered $50 OBC pp, I indicated that people on the same cruise were getting $100 pp. She put me through to CR who offered me $60 pp, I pressed her but was told that given the rate I paid for my cabin that $50 was what they could offer, but she'd give me $60 pp (I did get an excellent rate, my extended balcony is considerably less than a regular balcony is now). I took that & got my name on the ***** list in case a cabin is available.

I booked on DV and paid total 2400Cad for 3 people, and I got 100pp. Guess all depends on who you talk to.
