Winter Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine

Here is a short review of our recent sailing on the Carnival Breeze.

The ship is only 5 years old & the décor is beautiful. The crew was very friendly and enjoyed interacting with passengers. The food was good & so was the variety of entertainment. Most of the time there were no long lines for anything.

We arrived on time for 11am check in & it was fast. There were comfortable waiting areas for Platinum/Diamond as well as other passengers. We didn't have to wait to have our pictures taken because they scanned our passports & used those photos for our Sail & Sign cards.

Our Sail & Sign cards were in an envelope in front of our cabin when we arrived. Yes, they have a hole already punched in the lower right corner. No, we didn't use lanyards, because we always manage to have a pocket or bag to carry them in.

Yes, the cabin doors are metal, so door decorations can be affixed with magnets. No, we didn't decorate our door, because most of the other 3598 passengers don't really care who is in which cabin, and the signage is adequate to direct you to the appropriate side & section of each deck.

The muster drill was conducted before we sailed and they swiped our Sail & Sign cards when we arrived. The ship therefore had the names of those who chose not to attend, and they were later required to attend a special session.

Guy's Burgers are good, but we would never wait in line for 15 or 20 minutes for a hamburger, here or anywhere else.

Our inside cabin did contain a hair dryer in the top drawer of the desk, as well as a mini refrigerator underneath the bar/counter. The safe is located above the refrigerator and is locked with a 4 digit code rather than a credit card. The bathroom contained small glass shelves on each side of the sink but no electrical outlet.

We took advantage of the outside on deck 5, where you can walk completely around the entire ship 2-1/2 times to complete a mile & burn off some calories It's less crowded than the track but you just have to dodge the occasional smokers and Bags players.

We loved Sea Day brunch, the Wok & Italian food venues, and afternoon tea. We did not try the BBQ because the lines were always long & we heard bad reviews.

We did not feel hassled to pose for pictures or purchase drinks like we did when we first started cruising. Carnival now offers a double pour on cocktails for only $3 extra, which we found to be a good value.

We did the Chef's Table for the first time. The food, the wine & the service were all superb. However, you should be aware that the table is set in the middle of the galley, as it also is on the Freedom & Dream, and it is very noisy in there. We were expecting a quiet location & often found it hard to hear the chef as we was explaining each dish & wine.

We found the self-debarkation fast & easy. This was the first time we did not have to fill out a customs declaration.

We met a lot of people, mostly from Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas, who seemed drawn to the ship because of their proximity to Galveston and/or the casino.

The Breeze is a ship, not a boat. Yes, the crew does sleep on the ship. And the St. Kitt's W.I. on my shirt stands for West Indies, not Wisconsin.

Thank you for the review and the laughs (amazing the questions people will ask)! We are so excited to get the Breeze next year in PC and am getting ready to book for next December. One more trip on her sister ship, the Magic, in 90 days to say goodbye then on to the Breeze!

I finally sailed the Breeze earlier this month, completing the Dream class trilogy. I thought the Breeze was the best of this class, which now replaces the Conquest class in my go to book preferences.

Thanks for your review, I agree totally with your assessment. One of the best ships in Carnival's fleet!
