MCC retired Posted April 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Been away from Princess cruising other cruise lines for long enough that our FCC's expired and $$ Returned . Back on the Royal last week and noticed the lack of those reduced/free drinks onboard compared to all previous Princess Cruises (we are Platinum). I believe it is due to the availability of Beverage Packages , both free with Sip & Sail and purchased. Happy Hour = Gone Platinum/Elite Lounge = No more BoGo .Now just a small selection of $7 Drinks Champagne Waterfall night = Complementary champagne scarce Captains Circle Party = Available drinks not what it once was. Not that we are big drinkers ,the Beverage Packages are just too much booze for us (chose OBC option over Sip & Sail ), but it was noticeable after just a couple years away. Other Princess positive features like dinning & service remain unchanged IMO.
paul929207 Posted April 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Happy Hour has been eliminated. Platinum/Elite - I do not recall them ever having BoGo at this. Champagne waterfall - My wife never has a problem finding a glass or two. Captain's Circle - Drinks have been poor for years.
floridalover5623 Posted April 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2018 With the every increasing prices in drinks & cutbacks at functions it just makes more & more people deciding to bring their own. We are not big drinkers but it's evident that BYOB is the only way to go.
IECalCruiser Posted April 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2018 To reinforce paul929207’s post: Happy Hour has been eliminated but it had only been offered for a couple of years Platinum/Elite - Never seen a BoGo offered. The new reduced price $6 drinks menu is not an improvement in drink selection Champagne waterfall - We don’t bother going anymore and the quality of the “champagne” was never that good Captain's Circle - For many years, to get a “good” drink we have asked for wine Sent from my iPad using Forums
voljeep Posted April 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2018 what other lines besides Princess allows that one person in a cabin can buy the PBP, and the other doesn't? if/when that happens, it will be a definite deal killer for us to buy the PBP.
reedprincess Posted April 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2018 what other lines besides Princess allows that one person in a cabin can buy the PBP, and the other doesn't? if/when that happens, it will be a definite deal killer for us to buy the PBP. Celebrity. No requirement that both/all buy a package. Exception is when it's part of a booking promo, just like on Princess. Since most of Celebrity's cruises incuded at least one perk, most choose a beverage package, thus both have it..

Rare 4cats4me Posted April 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2018 We were on the same cruise. Platinum Elite Lounge has never had a BOGO. The drinks were 6.50, not 7.00, and neither of us liked the new drinks either. Plenty of free champagne. BOGO has been offered for the last three years, but never before No, there was no drink of the day offered. In fact, all drink prices have increased since 2017. However, drinks are still way cheaper than on Royal and X.
paul929207 Posted April 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Platinum Elite Lounge .Well maybe they were not BoGo but they certainly were less $$$ , perhaps Drink of the Day? Can't recall ? I think they had a drink of the day at the Elite/Platinum lounge. It was about $5. Now they have different specials that are about $6.50 or so each. Maybe 10 different drinks available at this price. We didn't think much of either special so just get wine.
