zqtchas Posted June 9, 2020 #4904 Share Posted June 9, 2020 TWELVE COMMANDMENTS FOR SENIORS #1 - Talk to yourself. There are times you need expert advice #2 - “In Style” are the clothes that still fit #3 - You don't need anger management. You need people to stop making you mad. #4 - Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for idiots that needs work. #5 - The biggest lie you tell yourself is, “I don't need to write that down. I'll remember it.” #6 - “On time” is when you get there. #7 - Even duct tape can't fix stupid - but it sure does muffle the sound. #8 - It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, then come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller? #9 - Lately, You've noticed people your age are so much older than you. #10 - Growing old should have taken longer. #11 - Aging has slowed you down, but it hasn't shut you up. #12 - You still haven't learned to act your age, and hope you never will. And one more: “One for the road” means peeing before you leave the house. 5 1

zqtchas Posted June 9, 2020 #4911 Share Posted June 9, 2020 My Self-Isolation Quarantine Diary Day 1 – I Can Do This!! Got enough food and wine to last a month! Day 2 – Opening my 8th bottle of Wine. I fear wine supplies might not last! Day 3 – Strawberries: Some have 210 seeds, some have 235 seeds. Who Knew?? Day 4 – 8:00pm. Removed my Day Pajamas and put on my Night Pajamas. Day 5 – Today, I tried to make Hand Sanitizer. It came out as Jello Shots!! Day 6 – I get to take the Garbage out. I’m So excited, I can’t decide what to wear. Day 7 – Laughing way too much at my own jokes!! Day 8 – Went to a new restaurant called “The Kitchen”. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have No clue how this place is still in business. Day 9 – I put liquor bottles in every room. Tonight, I’m getting all dressed up and going Bar hopping. Day 10 – Struck up a conversation with a Spider today. Seems nice. He’s a Web Designer. Day 11 – Isolation is hard. I swear my fridge just said, “What the hell do you want now?” Day 12 – I realized why dogs get so excited about something moving outside, going for walks or car rides. I think I just barked at a squirrel. Day 13 – If you keep a glass of wine in each hand, you can’t accidently touch your face. Day 14 – Watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals lead the Blue Jays 3–1. Day 15 – Anybody else feel like they’ve cooked dinner about 395 times this month? IS THIS YOU, yet? 2

Is J.P. referencing me?? How "old" is O-L-D???? I was born in Ohio and our state did not join the union till 1803. So, my birth date does not go back to the 1700's. Despite how I might look. THANKS! Rare jpalbny Posted June 10, 2020 #4921 Share Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) Well, today we were supposed to be in Xi'an, seeing the terra cotta warriors, and celebrating our anniversary in another exotic place. First year in a while that we're actually home for it. Instead we are at work for a bit. Chris's work computer needed an upgrade and of course, they had to choose today to do it. I am taking the day off but I drove in with her to help carry the workstation, as it's pretty heavy. We have some nice meals planned today, including lobster tails for lunch, and prime rib for dinner. And at some point today we will pop the cork on that bottle of 1995 Dom Pérignon, to celebrate our wedding year. It's still cheaper than the China trip would have been... Last night I made a pork loin roast in the instant pot, with a mushroom and white wine sauce. Nicely browned first, then made the sauce, added herbs from the garden, and pressure cooked in white wine and broth for an hour. We enjoyed it and have leftovers for lunch later this week. Monday night was tapas night. The main course was our homemade version of pil-pil shrimp. Should have used more garlic. You can never have too much! I made sure to have a few pieces of crusty bread available, to soak up all of that delicious sherry and garlic-flavored olive oil... Or, as a good friend who is now 92 tells me, it is better to be older and aging than that "alternative"!! Right? THANKS! Enjoy!
