cammeg Posted January 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2019 (edited) Hi we are looking at cruises out of Baltimore with CCL in Dec 2019. I know it will be pretty cold upon boarding... are there plenty of indoor activities? Also are there many family friendly places to visit in December in Baltimore? Nitemare Posted January 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2019 Baltimore has a great Aquarium and Harbor area. How many days will you be there?
Rare mskaufman Posted January 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2019 We were on the Christmas cruise in 2017. It was frigid, but Carnival knows that and plans indoor activities. The Aquarium is a good indoor activity in December. There are others depending on age/interest. If you get a day that is not too cold, you could go to Ft. McHenry. cammeg Posted January 15, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Thats great thanks for replying, we would be there for 3 days before the cruise.
SRF Posted January 16, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Also, you can take the train down to DC. You can spend years in the various Smithsonian Museums. Plus many other things to do. And other things to do in the Baltimore area, if you have transport.
Nitemare Posted January 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2019 That assumes they are open by then. Closed for the shutdown
Rare mskaufman Posted January 18, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2019 Even with the shutdown you can see the buildings. Also, the non Smithsonian museums will be open (e.g., Newseum, Spy Museum, etc.)

With three days in Baltimore, I'd definitely consider at least a day in DC.

cammeg Posted January 21, 2019 Author #14 Share Posted January 21, 2019 thank you all for replying, we ducked out of going in December 2019 (its cold enough in the UK we figured!) and have booked a cruise for August 2020. I have just made my trip advisor trip on the app and are adding your suggestions to it!
