Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #377 Share Posted February 18, 2019 All of that delectable food p0rn I've been bringing your way all week, and this is what it culminates in... Grocery store roasted chicken... And, I forgot that I was almost out of beer, so the very last one of those... (*** I do have some backup tequila)

Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #379 Share Posted February 18, 2019 I think that I may be close to hitting a wall on this long travel day, on next to no sleep... I'm going to tip a glass of tequila in honor of all you fine readers who have followed along on my journey there and back again... There's still plenty more to come in the following days... Until then... Salud... 11 1

Well, I don't know how to make an omelette, so eat your cereal!... We lost continuity long ago, so I thought I would give you the list of officers on board the Breakaway, then we'll continue with Jamaica mon'...
amelia3171 Posted February 18, 2019 #385 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Your reviews are a joy, thank you! For me the food & drink photos and comments are my favourite parts of any reviews and you do this brilliantly.
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #386 Share Posted February 18, 2019 We had just finished eating lunch at Scotchies, and the driver got a call to pick some others up at a horse riding farm down the road... He asked if I was in a hurry to get back, but I had no plans, so our journey continued. We headed further west into the Jamaican countryside. Soon, we arrived at the horse farm and picked up five other passengers. The driver picked a leaf off a nearby tree and crushed it in his hand. He said "here, smell this"... It was a fresh clove leaf, and the scent was intoxicating. (Not in the normal Jamaican leaf intoxicating, but it had a strong fragrant odor)

Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #388 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Sorry, the text that I typed for the last post disappeared... We headed past Ocho Rios and soon we were driving through a working class Jamaican neighborhood. At the end of the road was a river, where we dropped off the rest of the passengers. I got out and took a few pictures there. My thirty dollar cab ride to Scotchies had turned into a pretty decent tour of the island. 1
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #389 Share Posted February 18, 2019 A few more from the river where we dropped the people off... As you can see, we're in the sho nuff jungle right about now...
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #390 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Then we headed back through the neighborhood back to the bottom of the river, where we would pick up the people after their float down...
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #391 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Now, we're down at the bottom of the river waiting for them to arrive. I walked around and explored the area, but I didn't venture too far. I didn't want to miss my ride back to the port. Luckily, there was a restroom at the end of the river. The Red Stripe and water were weighing on me at this point. (Maybe I could write a book about the public bathrooms of the Caribbean?)
TDHNJ Posted February 18, 2019 #392 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Sid, It was a pleasure meeting you and tipping more than a "few" alcoholic concoctions from the hands of Edgar in Vibe. I wish you well in your new job and maybe our paths will cross again on another cruise. Take care and keep on writing these great cruise blogs/entries!
Rare PTC DAWG Posted February 18, 2019 #393 Share Posted February 18, 2019 (edited) Which brand is your preferred patch? Oh yeah, your favorite ATL Jerk Chicken spot? Edited February 18, 2019 by PTC DAWG
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #394 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Since I'm off work today, let's just continue with the food p0rn... The Buford highway corridor is home to any number of ethnic eateries. Any kind of food you can think of, and then some. Yummy Spicy is one of those places you could drive by a million times and never notice. The building used to be a taco bell back in the 80's... It's home to some authentic Szechuan cooking. They know me pretty well here, and right when I walk through the door, they know my order... Of course I keep a custom set of titainium chop sticks in my glove box. (Just kidding, $12 on Amazon)
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #395 Share Posted February 18, 2019 My standard order is the yummy spicy chicken. It's, well, yummy and spicy... Just look at all those Sichuan pepper corns. This is what's left after you eat all the chicken. Like I said, spicy... 4

Rebound is the only one I've tried, other than the party patch they used to sell on the ship. I order it directly from rebound for about $26 for thirty patches with free shipping... Favorite jerk? There's so many around, but most aren't in the greatest parts of town. Kool Runnings off Peachtree parkway is pretty good, and better than Scotchies... Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #398 Share Posted February 18, 2019 About 3 o'clock the driver dropped me off back inside the port. I paid him the agreed upon $30 plus a nice tip for the extended tour. I headed straight to Vibe and started drinking... According to my notes, I had five Patron silver margaritas in a row... A close up of the inside of the Vibe cabanas. And, the cavernous Vibe accessable restroom... (What the heck is it with me and these restroom pictures?) 1

Rare sid_9169 Posted February 18, 2019 Author #400 Share Posted February 18, 2019 I neglected to write down the names of any of the dishes, but everything was pretty good and came out quickly... I'll just let the pictures do the talking here. 2
