In Kona today. The ship’s tenders are shuttling people ashore. We were told to expect 2 hour wait times for the return to the ship this afternoon.

Hilo tomorrow, then we start back with a stop in Ensenada.

We are too! Review to follow. 😎

Very excited for your review! I am not sure if it will be done in time for me (I am planned on Splendor June 1st) but I have loved your reviews in the past!

Yes, the sea day brunch is still in  effect. Breakfast is served in the Gold Pearl dining room starting at 8:30 and continues till the brunch starts around 11:00.

On sea days they are alternating. One day sea day brunch from 8:30 till 1, the next day open seating breakfast from 7 to 10, then open seating lunch from noon to 2.

Our glass bottom boat excursion was cancelled due to high winds and rough seas—drat!

Sorry that happened to you. The tender,  sorry, water shuttle ride was a little bumpy. We did the historical tour which was pretty good. Now sitting at the Paradise Bar & Restaurant across from the tender pier while Patti shops. Probably be on one of the last water shuttles back. 😎

Is it the new brunch menu or the old? Any loose slots you’ve found? I’ll also be on the ship 6/1 and eagerly awaiting Jamman’s review! How has the blackjack been Jamman?

Not sure about the sea day brunch menu since we haven't made it there yet. As for blackjack, I'm about even after the first four sea days. The continuous shuffling machines suck as I'm sure you know. 😎

Glad you’re sitting about even. I know you’ll come out up, you always seem to!

Oh how I despise those CSMs! Do they have them on all tables or just low limit tables? I’ve really only cruised fantasy class ships (with the exception of Victory) and on my recent cruises on Imagination and Inspiration they had the CSMs at the $10 / $6 non super-fun tables only. Hoping that’s the case on Splendor too. Though I wish Carnival (and land casinos) would do away with them completely. I know, I’m dreaming 😆

All I've seen are CSM's. That's the way of the world today. Gives them more hands per hour and takes away card counters. ☹

Yes, really... we have had a little success in the past on ships, one cruise in particular after hitting up a machine a reviewer had recently mentioned. Though I do prefer to spend my time at a blackjack table.

Oh that hurts to hear! Better that I am prepared for it though. Thanks for taking time out of your cruise to respond. May you enjoy the rest of your cruise and do well in the casino!

Question for you: How was the internet and TV as you sailed to Hawaii? I have heard stories from the Splendor that Internet was not working at all, and that the live TV stations were no longer received?

Thanks for your reply!

There have been periods when the internet (value package) has been very slow or non existent. When we got to the Islands both the television and internet and cell service got markedly better, there was about a 3 day period out in the middle of the Pacific where there was no television or cell service. Satellites don’t need to broadcast to the fish I suppose.

Thanks for that. Somebody on the Roll Call for the Splendor repo in Oct. also mentioned the non existent internet to Hawaii. So I would imagine that 18 sea days to Singapore in the Pacific is a no go. I think they are going to upgrade when they get to dry dock in Singapore, but won’t help the TP passengers.

It will be a good time to download series onto the IPad to watch on those sea days.

As Dan said, after our second day out of Long Beach, television service ceased to exist to the point that they closed the Sport's Bar since no games could be shown. Service came back when we got to the Islands. We didn't purchase any internet plans because of what we heard about on previous Hawaii cruises. Verizon wireless is fully functional here in Hawaii so we were able to catch up with emails and such here. I expect television service to crap out not long after leaving Hilo today. Satellites are not pointed at miles of  nothingness. 😎
