Anyone seen this before - capacity for all cabins set at 2

We sail in less than a month on a ship formally headed to Cuba (July 6th Paradise). A lot of people canceled and they appear to be scrambling to fill it. I see many amazing deals being posted. So to be clear - ship is NOT full, neither in number of people nor number of cabins.

 

Now here is my issue - I can't do a mock booking for my family of four because every single cabin is set at max 2 capacity. This wasn't the case pre-Cuba change because I have been diligent about watching for price drops. Since that announcement, I can't get even get through the search function to bring up my cruise unless I set it to 2 people. That said, when I get the the cabin selection, there are MANY cabins available that actually hold 4 people (checked on the deck map). 

 

What the heck? Is this a glitch or are they preventing families from getting the price reduction?

Call instead.  Problem solved.

Maybe there was an issue with the website at the time, but I just did a mock booking for three people in a mid-ship balcony on deck 7 without any issues.

 

BTW...that's one expensive cruise for 5 days and two very generic ports.

For July 6th? I get absolutely nothing. The list goes from July 1st then July 15th.

I saw a great deal for these previously Cuba sailings in my offers but ran into the same thing (only 2 per cabin).  After exploring around I found a sailing on June 22 which allowed me to book it for 3.  We got (a casino deal) Oceanview for $50 each plus $60 for a third person and $100 onboard credit.  It's unfortunate a lot of people did not get the Cuba trip they wanted but this was an exceptional price for a summer cruise.

I'm really getting pissed off. I'm not upset with my fellow cruisers getting a good deal, but I now realize that this is how they get around the price protection. Seriously I am sitting on thousands of dollars spent and they are individually calling people to offer them $39 for the entire cruise. Shut the front door this sucks for us. I know I can cancel but I don't want to... I just would like to feel like the price protection program they promised was fair.

Thought we might try to snag a good deal. No such luck. $700 for inside. $800 for OV. Where are you seeing these amazing deals you are talking about?

edit: I just went to try again and it wouldn't allow me to have 3 guests. It did last night and this morning.

I didn't have any trouble searching for 4 on the July 6 sailing today.

I was looking at the June 18 dream out of galveston cruise and entered two people for my room. The only thing available was a suite. I thought ok, let me get a price for four of us. When I entered 4 the only thing available was an interior.

Some friends of ours wanted to join us on the July 20 cruise (that formerly went to Cuba).  I called Carnival last night, and they told me that Carnival has set all the room capacities to 2. Something about there are already a lot of cabins with 3, 4, or 5 people, and they had to do that so that they don't exceed the lifeboat capacity.  Sounds more like trying to maximize revenue, but whatever.

I have seen this before and some of those with inside info have explained that filling every possible berth often exceeds lifeboat capacity. Summer sailings are full of families with kids and they fill up further in advance than off season.
