Rare Beamafar Posted June 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2019 "An Irish woman has been rescued after she fell overboard a cruise ship in Italy on Monday. She was rescued by a brave crew member, who dived into the sea and saved the woman. The MSC Seaview cruise ship was in port at the Italian city of Genoa when the Irish woman fell overboard. A staff member, who is a skilled sailor, saw her fall into the Mediterranean sea. The crew member then reacted quickly, dived in and rescued the woman." https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/irish-woman-rescued-after-falling-overboard-a-cruise-ship-in-italy-38234391.html

From memory it was near the back of the deck.

Fostelo Posted June 21, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2019 https://apple.news/As5yejxBJTK2FWf6sk5-QDQ in this story the headline says fallen overboard but when you read the story it states she intentionally jumped 🤔🤔
SeaSunset22 Posted June 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2019 The Italian press reported the next day that a drunken Irish woman jumped overboard from the Seaview following a row with her husband. She was rescued by a brave staff member and taken to an Italian hospital. The ship was delayed leaving port by six hours while her family packed and disembarked.
mvh Posted June 21, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Here we go again. NO ONE FALLS OFF A CRUISE SHIP! They either jump or are pushed.
Rare Beamafar Posted June 21, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Media has to be careful how these things are reported which is why they use the term "falls off" - until such time as the facts are established as to whether the person was pushed or jumped. It's unfortunate there isn't a better, at least more ambiguous description, 'falls off' does make it sound that this could easily occur, which I'm sure isn't actually the case - at least I hope it isn't! Homosassa Posted June 24, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 24, 2019 I am glad the crewman did not injure himself or die while saving someone that deliberately jumped off the ship.
