DaCruiseBug Posted July 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2019 I am at Diamond level with Caesars and pulled up the offer from NCL which says we get 20% off bookings. ( https://www.caesars.com/total-rewards/tr-partners/norwegian-cruise-line ) So I called the number listed on the Caesars website for NCL casino and went thru the process and instead of 20% off the cruise fare...they guy took $20 off the cruise fare. Am I missing something? Yes, the fare is a sailaway inside on a 5 day cruise. The discount should have been about $100. Anyone have experience with this discount? Rare BirdTravels Posted July 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) You get a discount off the FARE. You do not get a discount off of the port taxes and fees. If you intend to gamble (being a Diamond Caesars Rewards member, I assume you will), you will become a rated player with NCL Casinos at Sea and you can try and book directly with NCL next time. You go from $20 off to comped cruises. Edited July 13, 2019 by BirdTravels
JohnChiang Posted July 13, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Often when you book with Casinos at Sea, they will automatically add the cruise insurance. Make sure to tell them that you do not want the insurance.

Just call back CAS and ask them for a breakdown

That's why I don't understand. There is a part of the fare that is called NCF (Non Commissionable Fare) that gets removed, then the discount is applied and the NCF is added back on. cruisinsc1 Posted July 13, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2019 It is not 20% off the full fare. As the previous poster stated, the NCF is removed before the discount is applied.

cruisinsc1 Posted July 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Normally, you would subtract the $300. Which would leave $200 X 20% = $40. Looks like you got 10% . Could be because Sailaway or maybe solo traveler. You could call back and ask for a detailed explanation.
cruisinsc1 Posted July 13, 2019 #11 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Just to add, you will also get a free drink card. It can be used only when playing in the Casino or at the Casino bar.

On a comped cruise, the admin fee is $20 per person/per day. So a solo on a 5 day cruise, it would only be $100. In the past, I've booked 2 solo NCL cruises with the Caesars Diamond discount and have gotten around 18% off the fare listed on their website. Looks like NCL is now fudging the admin fee to minimize this discount. Also check to see if you are listed as Platinum level instead of Diamond on their computer system since you only received 10% off the cruise fare portion. rtkenmore Posted July 17, 2019 #15 Share Posted July 17, 2019 I think it has something to do with sailaway... I honestly didn’t think sailaway was eligible with the Caesars discount... you may may want to check the lowest regular category and see if the discount puts it cheaper than sailaway. awinte2 Posted July 17, 2019 #16 Share Posted July 17, 2019 Just booked Encore for February with Cesares free cruise voucher . Got inside cabin for 7 days no charge for 2 but had to pay the taxes, and gratuities on drink pkg. We are from Canada and got this through Cesares Windsor. When I got pricing from CAS they were almost identical pricing to Cesares. So as a Diamond member I think you should get a little more than 20% off. Just my opinion.
