It just wasn’t enforced. Not sure if the 12 bottle limit is enforced either but I do know that people who used to slap a luggage tag on a case and have it delivered to their room aren’t getting away with that anymore. We had 3 cabins side by side and the 3rd cabin was meeting us at the port and I offered to bring their soda so we had (2) 12 packs of soda and also 12 flavored seltzer’s and they demanded to see the paperwork for the 3rd cabin otherwise they were going to confiscate the extras. I did have a copy of their paperwork so they finally let us through. This happened at the X-ray machine out of Bayonne. They now allow up to twelve bottles/cans of non-alcoholic beverages to be brought on board. If called to The Naughty Room, after showing that it's non-alcoholic and under the number allowed to be brought on board, they should be allowed to take it back to their room. Uhh, this IS RCI we are talking about. Expect the unexpected. 😄 The rules clearly stated CARRY ON, so they may hold them since you violated that. Or maybe not. And what happened last cruise, or even to others on the same cruise has no bearing on what happens to YOU. This is RCI.

WeMissSeaView Posted July 21, 2019 #54 Share Posted July 21, 2019 Took a whole case of water on the Ovation on June 21st in Seattle. I had three cabins for the whole family, but no one said anything to me. Checked it in at the port with our luggage and it was delivered to my room before we sailed. The cases don't have handles, they don't have rollers...not a joy to lug all the way up to your cabin. Me? I put my six to eight loose bottles in a duffel bag with a handle and attach a tag to it. Never fails to make it to my cabin. Easier for them to handle. Now the rule is 12 bottles, but must be in your carry on. Are you saying you still put water in a duffel bag, check it, and it still gets to your cabin? That’s how we always did it and it was great. The less ship’s water I drink the less my feet and ankles swell. That is a time tested fact.

Yes, have been doing it for years...but I don't "go overboard" (pun intended 😉 )....I just put 6-8 bottles in the duffel bag.
